It's been a few weeks since tour ended and now it was November. The time of the year where I just can't escape that damn Mariah Carey song for the life of me. As I made myself comfortable on my couch with my favorite throw blanket and my homemade version of the Starbucks "medicine ball" tea, there was a knock on my door. I picked up my phone and looked at the time. 7:30pm.

Akeylah: (mumbles) Who the hell is showing up this late?

I got up from my spot and walked over to the door. I stood on my tiptoes and looked through the peep hole. Playfully rolling my eyes, I unlocked the door and opened it to reveal Tyler standing with a bag of food from our favorite sushi spot.

Akeylah: (puts her hands on her hip) You didn't call, you know?

I stepped aside so that he could walk inside

Tyler: (chuckles) I know. I was in the area so I thought I'd come see you.

Akeylah: (squints) You were in the "area" huh?

Tyler: Okay. Maybe I just missed you and wanted to see you.

Akeylah: (giggles) Now that's more believable but don't just drop by again though. What if I had company over?

We moved over to the couch as Tyler took off his shoes and got comfortable.

Tyler: (raises brow) Who would you have over here?

Akeylah: (shrugs) You never know. I could be entertaining someone else.

Tyler: (sucks teeth) Right. You're not even dating anyone.

I laughed as I got comfortable under my throw blanket once again and grabbed the sushi

Akeylah: You don't have to be dating anyone to have company.

Tyler: (sits down next to her) You would tell me if you were, wouldn't you?

Akeylah: (rolls eyes playfully) Sure. Now what are we watching?

Tyler: (grabs some sushi) What? I get to choose this time?

Akeylah: (holds remote to her chest) Don't make me change my mind.

Tyler: (grabs the remote) Let's see if one of those cheesy ass holiday movies are on.

Akeylah: (snickers) You know hallmark is good for that.

And so he went to the Hallmark channel and they were indeed playing a cheesy rom-com. We cuddled under my blanket and laughed at the screen as we ate our sushi.

Tyler: How do you watch this shit?

Akeylah: Sometimes after a long ass stressful day, you just need something predictable and dramatic to calm the nerves.

When the credits finally began to roll, I noticed out of the corner or my eyes that Tyler was looking at me.

Tyler: You wanna watch another?

Akeylah: Hell no. Let's watch something more entertaining. Maybe family guy or the Simpsons is on.

I took the remote from him and started surfing through the channels until we landed on something funny. I hadn't even realized it but Tyler was laying on this couch and I was laying on top of him with my head resting on his chest. My eyes closed as I sighed feeling a sense of comfort come over me as he wrapped him arms tight around me.
