Domonique: (smirks) So...where is T taking you on y'all first official date?

Akeylah: (smiles) I don't know where we're going. He won't tell me.

Akeylah turned toward the camera to show Domonique her outfit choices.

Akeylah: Should I go with the sundress or the top and jeans?

Domonique: Well if this is you guys' first date, I think you should go with the sundress. You never know what T has up his sleeve and I don't think you can be over or underdressed in a sundress.

Akeylah: (pauses to think) Actually, I think I have something better.

She turned and started to push hangers aside in my closet until she found a short blue jean romper then turned back to the camera.

Akeylah: So...I'm thinking this, with some white sneakers?

Domonique: Okay? But if you guys end up at a fancy restaurant?

Akeylah: (laughs) I know we're not going anywhere fancy. He told me to be cute but comfortable. I'm sure he would've told me to dress up.

Domonique: (nods) Okay you have a point there. What time is he coming?

Akeylah: Um...it's five now. He said seven.

Domonique: Hmm...now I'm curious as to where y'all are going. I bet it's gonna be fun.

Akeylah: (smiles) Knowing him, it will be I'm sure of it.

When seven came, there was finally a knock on the door and Akeylah automatically felt butterflies in her stomach.  Quickly she applied a light coat of lip gloss and headed over to answer it. Tyler was standing outside with a bouquet of pink roses. He was wearing a green tee, white shorts, a brown bucket hat with his flowerboy chain and socks with sandals.

Akeylah: (smiles trying not to laugh) So. Are we going to a cookout finally because...

Tyler: (laughs) Nah, we're not going to a cookout. But I do like your style. You look beautiful, as always. (He leans in to kiss her cheek and hands her the roses)

Akeylah: (giggles) Thank you, Ty. But you're dressed like you're about to man the grill.

Tyler: (chuckles) Just wanted to keep it casual, you know? But I promise you'll like where we're going. It's a surprise.

Akeylah: (smiling) Oh, you've got me intrigued alright.

Quickly, she went to set the roses in a vase full of water then joined Tyler again at the door. They walked out of the apartment building hand in hand to the parking lot.

Akeylah: I can't wait to see what you have in store for me.

Tyler: (smiles) I promise you're gonna love it. All I'll tell you is that it's a different kind of experience.

He opened the passenger door to his cream colored beamer. As Akeylah slid into the car, she couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. The anticipation of the surprise date had her heart racing. She looked over at Tyler, his smile beaming as he started the engine. He had always had a knack for planning fun and unique outings, and she knew tonight would be no exception.

The drive was filled with easy conversation and laughter as they reminisced about old times and caught up on what they had been doing since their...whatever from before had ended. The chemistry between them was palpable, and Akeylah found herself feeling more drawn to Tyler than ever before.
