We we just a couple minutes from Cameron's house when I started to smile. We we're driving through the woods of the small town with thinks like my old high school, little shopping areas, and the lake. I remembered how much Reed and I hung out at the lake, and the last time we hung out there, we fucked.
I could see Cameron peeking over at my saddened face from the corner of my eye.
"You okay Jade?" She asked placing her hand on my shoulder.
"Oh yeah I'm okay" I said with a smile on my face
"Jade I know you, what's up?"
"Cameron I'm just excited to see everyone" I said smile.
Cameron ruffled my hair, and we laughed as I tried to fix it.
"Cameron! I don't have a brush!" I said giggling
"It's okay you look nice like that." She said, and turned back to the road.
We continued to laugh, and I continued to try and fix my hair all the way there.
"Jade you look fine" Cameron said as we drove up
"Okay hold on" I said, and brushed through my hair one more time before we left
Cameron put her arm around me, and we walked up to their front door. Cameron's mom opened, and her face was down, but when she saw Cameron and I she lightened up
"Oh my goodness, thank god you brought Jade instead of that girl again." Cameron's mom Linda said, and gave us both a longing tight hug.
We walked in, and Cameron left me to go talk to her mom in another room.
I walked over to the rest of Cameron's family, her brother, dad, cousins, aunts uncles, and pretty much over like 50 people were there.
I sat next to Cameron's brother Landon and we had a conversation while waiting for Cameron to return.
A couple minutes later I saw Cameron come out the room sad, and Linda was also sad but looked relieved. Cameron met my gaze, and her face lightened back up, and she walked over to Landon and I. She ruffled Landons hair as she hugged him.
"Cameron when will you ever stop doing that?" He asked fixing his hair
"Oh yeah I forgot you did that to me too hold up." I said, and excused myself up to Cameron's room.
I went into her drawer, got a brush, and started brushing my hair, and retouching up my makeup. I heard someone come in, but didn't really care because I was already like family for them, and everyone knew me.
"Hey Jade" I heard Linda say
"Oh hey what's up ma" I said, putting a little bit of lipgloss on
"I just wanted to say thanks for coming with Cam, and calming her down earlier after what happened"
"Yea that's what sisters are for" I said finally finishing up, and turning to her
"I just wanted to ask, are you dating anyone?" She said.
I furrowed my eyebrows, but answered anyways
"Oh no not right now"
"Are you talking to anyone?"
"No, I don't think so"
"Well..." I was starting to not like the direction of this "Well maybe you and Cameron?" She added
"Ma I love you, but no she's like my sister"
"Jade, that's the reason, you guys know each other so well, and I can't take Cameron bringing home girls, and girls like Sarah."
