Zhejiang and Enterprise (Book One)

The Dragon and the Eagle (2)

Enterprise's POV:

Sighing, I give in and agree to Code G's proposal. I'll do anything to get Zhejiang back, even if it means teaming up with her. I'm sure this will have some fallout as everything she does always has but still, she's right about one thing. I can't do this on my own.

Red light flashes beside me and in an instant, she's there.

Code G: Leave everything to me. Just stay back or you'll get in the way.

Stepping back as she asked, I look around to find everyone else staring at her in utter shock. I suppose it is their first time meeting her. I myself had a similar reaction when I first saw another me so consider how they don't immediately open fire, they are handling it far better than I did.

Smiling, I refocus on her only to see her fire at Zhejiang.

Me: What are you-

A roar drowns out my voice. It's deafening but as I clamp my hand over my ears, an explosion lights up the sky. When it clears, I can't tell who's more surprised, me or G. There, completely unscathed, floats a now fuming Zhejiang. The dragon's changed too, now wrapping itself more consistently around her form as she begins glowing bright red.

Zhejiang's POV:

As the attack flies towards me, I'm so shocked that I can't even bring myself to move. However, before it can hit me the dragon launches forward with a roar. There's an explosion and a bright light but when it clears, I'm completely unscathed. The dragon's returned to me but it begins changing colour as anger builds up within me. Turning a fiery red, it snakes its way up my body as my clothes burn away from the excessive heat.

????: Now do you see. They are all traitors. Burn them all!

My mind's blank. I can't think straight and yet, words still form in my mouth as though some other being is speaking through me.

Me: Yes. They must all die.

Enterprise's POV:

Trying to stop G, I attempt to close the distance between us but immediately find myself under fire as Zhejiang's entire carrier forms behind her in the sky and begins raining down hellfire from above. Everyone, friend and foe scatter in response. Dragon Empery or Eagle Union, SIREN or KANSEN, she opens fire on everything.

Code G: So that's how it is, huh?

G arms herself and begins making her way towards Zhejiang. The look in her eyes tells me she's out for blood and yet, try as I might, I can't close the distance between us. Between Zhejiang's large-scale bombardment and the stormy sea, I'm like a feather in the wind and yet I keep pressing on, eventually intercepting her.

Me: I won't allow you to hurt her!

Code G: Oh?

As we stand, facing off one another, I know I can't win against her but I can't let that deter me. Even if I don't know what's happening to Zhejiang, I can't allow her or anyone else to hurt her. 

Code G: You'd allow her to kill everyone here?

Me: I-

My mouth closes as I watch ally after ally take hit after hit. Some are already barely staying afloat. Others are already dipping beneath the waves. Conflicted, I lower my weapon just a little and in the split second that I do, G raises hers and fires.

Me: No!

The scream of desperation leaves my mouth as her arrow takes flight, erupting in golden light before taking the form of an eagle. Zhejiang notices and this time fires everything in our direction. The dragon protecting her also charges forward. The world seemingly stops as the two hurtle towards one another with the dragon opening its mouth at the last second. 

The Eagle flies straight into its mouth and there's an explosion. It's much bigger than the last one but when it clears, another scream leaves my lips. There, above it all, Zhejiang's form freezes as the bolt of golden light pierces her chest, passing clean through to the other side.
