Chapter thirty-two

 "Hey, you know that it isn't your fault," Logan said as we walked into my house.

I frowned and looked at him, "What isn't?"

"Your mother..." He trailed off. My eyes widened as I realized the memory was already slipping off but could remember our conversation but not the whole thing.

I shrugged, "I don't know..." I paused. "I can't remember the memory but I-I caused her death by being an...angel?" I couldn't recall any images of the accident, not even what it looked like or how my mom looked like and how it happened. I know Logan and Cory reminded me to remember the name, Merlin. He's also a Warlock and apparently, he's the one that found me in the car accident.

"Hey, hey..." Logan said as he grabbed my shoulders and made me turn around to face him. "It's not your fault. You were only four years old, Van."

I looked down, "I guess...I don't know."

We made our way upstairs and went into my room. I took the book out of the drawers. I turned around and saw Logan already laying down on my bed. I shook my head and smiled at him.

I sat down next to him...really close to him. Our arms are touching.

I opened the diary and started reading through a few entries.

March 10th, 2002

Vanessa is soon having her second birthday. Her brother is doing fine. I'm still searching for the book. I met a man named Axel. He's a bit younger than me. He's twenty-four but I'm only twenty-seven. We're seeing each other in secret and I told him about the book and he already knew about it. A few family members of his are vampires so they know about it. Maybe he can help me find it...

July 12th 2002

Andrew is suspecting something between me and Axel. Well, not exactly him, but he thinks I'm seeing another man. I can't let Axel get caught. I need to find this book before my sister finds it. Vanessa is showing signs of power. Powers my sister told me about which makes her want to kill Vanessa. I still don't know why and that's why I have to find the book. There's a prophecy in it but if she finds it first, she could make the two worlds collide together and that would be the end for us. And I have to find a Warlock so he can lock Vanessa's powers. I don't know about Liam. My sister told me he was supposed to have them too. Why them?

That's what I have to figure out.

June 9th 2003

Axel is getting agitated. He thinks I sold him out to my husband. He says that hunters are now hunting down his family and he's mad about it. But he's also seeking a Vampire so he can get turned with pure vampire blood. But there's something I haven't told him. I know where's the book. I know which town but I don't know exactly where. But it was closer than we thought. It's in Laurencie, it's the town next to ours. I also found a Warlock up north in Canada. His name is Merlin. I've tried to contact him a few times this past year. I'm getting worried about Vanessa. My sister came to my house the other day with a man. She says he was the Devil from the other dimension. He told my daughter he would come back for her when her full powers will have appeared. I can't let it happen.

October 30th 2003

The warlock finally contacted me. He's living in the upper north of Ontario in Canada. But he's currently in Germany, dealing with the Council. He will be back in four months. I don't know if it will be too late by then. My husband is getting worried about Vanessa's powers. We keep erasing those types of memories from Vanessa and Liam. I'm thankful her powers don't appear often, but when it does, it's hard for her to control them. Her wings haven't come out yet. But Andrew isn't happy about that idea. He's scared that it's going to damage their long-term memories. Axel is now officially seeking the help of Christian, the first vampire ever coming to our world. The first vampire to be banned from the other world. I've been traveling to Laurencie a few times those last few months. I can't find the book. The Sanford witch can't help as well. She says that no spell could find the book. It's like if it is cursed. There are rumors about another witch guarding it, but she's evil.
