Inos pov
"so you met a random girl in rags in the rain looking for her cousin" my friend sakura muttered in disbelief.
"yep" I grinned "oh look there she is!" I pointed to the girl from last night sleeping on the bench.
"hey raise and shine hun" I said gently shaking her.
She woke up and jumped once she saw me "I'm sorry. I just felt so sleepy. I didn't think I'd actually fall asleep"
"hey its completely fine" I said gently "I didn't introduce myself last time. I'm ino and this is my friend sakura. What's your name"
"I'm hinata hyuga but I suppose I'm not part of that family anymore"
Me and sakura took a seat next to her "do you want to talk about it?"
She sighed "your both very kind but I must keep looking for neji"
Sakura placed a hand on her shoulder "hinata I understand what it's like to lose someone you love"
"still yearning for sasuke?" I grinned.
"shut up!" she glared at me. She turned back to hinata with a smile "but honey you need to rest. You won't be any good to him this way"
"you don't understand!" she yelled with tears in her eyes "it's my fault he's gone"
"I still don't understand how you could blame yourself for that" I muttered.
She sighed "my father has always been very cruel. He would beat me, my sister and neji on a daily basis. One day we had enough and discided to run away but..."
Flashback
Hinatas pov
"what do you mean your not coming with us?" I stared at him in disbelief.
He smiled at me gently "hinata he's going to catch us if we all leave together. Your best chance is to take hanabi and run"
"but then you'll have to deal with him all on your own" my eyes pricked with tears. I didn't want to leave him behind.
He gently wiped my tears away "hinata I'll be ok. I can handle him. Just focus on getting dirt on the old man. Then we can be together while he rots in prison where he belongs"
I nodded with tears in my eyes. I have to do this for hanabis sake. I ran out the door as fast as I could.
I'm come back for you someday neji.
End of flashback
Inos pov
"that's when I met up with naruto and together we gathered evidence of my father's evil deeds. Eventually we managed to take him down but then" tears started to brim in her eyes "neji was nowhere to be found. Father told me that he got scared one night and ran off. It's my fault for abandoning him. It's all my fault-" she was cut off by me and sakura hugging her.
"none of this is your fault hinata" sakura said gently "you had to look out for your little sister. it sounds like neji really cared for you"
"he did" she wiped her tears away.
"hey cheer up hinata. Your see you cousin again I promise" I said reassuringly.
"I hope your right" she smiled at us "well I must get going. See you around"
"goodbye hinata" we waved.
"I hope that poor girl finds her cousin" sakura muttered.
"me too" I sighed.
Now I'm really feeling suspicious of shikamaru. The only question is should I confount him about it?
