5 - Almost The Best

Mike and his friend approached us. I mean I had seen him quite often at the station so for me it wasn't so strange, but I sensed how Jungkook tensed a bit. He tried to hide it though and was doing a good job at it.

     'Jungkook? is that really you?' Mike asked surprised

      'yeah, hi mike'

      'wooow, you really got in shape man' Mike gasped as he hit Jungkook slightly on the shoulders, as a guy thing.

    'uhm thanks?' Jungkook let out

     'hey dude, I just wanted to say... I am sorry about my behavior in the academy I was young and stupid. and honestly I was a bit jealous you were so smart.'

Mike's eyes diverted to me

    'and that y/n was interested in you, but honestly good to see you two gave it a go.'

     'uhm no we didn't' I indicated while waving my hands in like a defensive sort of way, and also while my cheeks flustered. 

     'ohh, sorry.. I just assumed.. No nevermind. anyways again my apologies Jungkook and good to see you and good to see you're doing well.'

     'Same to you Mike' Jungkook said with sincerity and I also noticed how his tense statue disappeared.

    'Are you okay?' I asked in a soft tone to Jungkook, imagining it can be hard seeing your bully, even if it was years later. He looked at me and nodded 'you know y/n I'm not the same guy I was from the academy, you might think I am but I am stronger.'

It was a bit cryptic but I just nodded as a sort of okay whatever you say.

We proceeded to the movie and while watching I did have a hard time not noticing his presence. like feeling the urge to hold hands or something, that was probably because of the couples that were surrounding us and really behaved like couples.

I shook my head

no focus on the movie y/n

When it ended we stood outside, the cold breeze hitting the bare skin of my face. It was summer yet for some reason this night seemed to be cold.

     'so uhm this was nice' Jungkook said with a soft smile.

I don't know whether it was nostalgia or just habit but I quickly hugged him, just like I used to during the academy.

     'thanks Jungkook,'

     'yes I think Dong-Min will be happy to hear you didn't go alone, as that seemed such a tragedy to him' Jungkook joked and I laughed.

     'yes I know, it would have been a horrible tragedy indeed'

       'see you Monday at work?' I asked but it was a pretty dumb question, like where else would he be?

      'yes ofcourse, enjoy your weekend y/n!' 

       'you too kook' I replied and I mentally face palmed myself, I sometimes called him that as a nickname in the academy. He flustered 'uh, yes uh thanks' he said and then turned around and left.

I sighed deeply,

What in the world are you doingy/n?

Jungkook pov

Together with y/n I arrived back at the police station. We returned from some basic ground research work. Gina approached us with an ominous expression on her face, she leaned closer to y/n and whispered, 'she is here.'
