y/n pov
I stared into the city. I just had to get away from the others. I always hated it when mother came by unannounced. I mean the fact she was always disappointed was something I was used to but it's still uncomfortable as everyone can see it too.
I sat there for almost an hour already and still I was not eager to return to the team just yet.
'y/n'
Jimin's voice broke the silence I had spent the last hour in.
'How did you know I was here?' I asked startled. Jimin continued walking towards me until he finally sat down on the concrete block on which I sat.
'I heard your mother came by and I know you always go here when you feel bad'
I shrugged, not sure what to say because he was right and in a way it showed me that he actually seemed to care.
'I'm fine' I eventually said, not looking at Jimin but staring at the city's skyline.
a cold object touched my hand
'Here take a beer' he said and I now turned my head sideways to face him.
Gosh he was so handsome.
He also had a can of beer for himself and he opened it.
'so you want to talk about it?' Jimin asked which in itself was already quite a step. Though it was also slightly annoying me considering he had ignored me for some time now.
'About what exactly' I answered putting a strong emphasis on the what, and I wondered if he would catch that this was about our passionate yet short encounter that night.
He sighed
'Look I am sorry y/n, can we just be like we were before that happened?'
In a way it did send a pain through my body, not that I expected him to say like; hey yes I've been ignoring you but now that you ask let's be together, get married and have beautiful babies who look like me.
but what he suggested now was basically to forget the whole thing happened. I swallowed, trying to act like it didn't affect me. In the end I did miss him and I'd rather have him as my friend as we were before than not at all.
'yea sure'
'okay, so how bad was it with your mom?'
'She was disappointed, but hey what's new right?'
Jimin shook his head 'don't let it get you down too much y/n, in case she again appointed your successes to someone else ignore that.'
I stared ahead again, it was pretty embarrassing that my own mother did it and apparently it was obvious to everyone.
'thanks Jim' I said gratefully, because in a way it was still one of the things I needed to hear.
The following day I set my alarm an hour earlier so that I would have time to go to the shooting range before the start of the day. I heard Jimin's words echo in my mind"don't let it get to you y/n"
I couldn't help it though, I just needed to become the best shooter, perhaps then she will finally leave me alone.
The first round went well but not better than I did yesterday, so that meant not good enough. I started my second round but for some reason this one went even worse.
I let out an annoyed groan, the frustration build up even more in the third round as I started well but soon missed the middle mark again. Suddenly I felt a presence very nearby and I raised my arm while turning around to have some form of attack.
My arm however, was stopped mid air and my widened eyes stared directly into those of Jimin.
'What the hell Jimin you scared me' I let out while lowering my arm.
'so it seems' he replied without emotion
'w-.. what are you doing here?' I asked
'I come here quite often before work, I told you that remember?'
My cheeks flustered because he indeed told me that plus it made sense. Jimin was the best shooter at our police station.
'The question is what are you doing here? I've never seen you so early before?' Jimin inquired, and I felt like I was caught in breaking a promise or something. Because he told me not to let it get to me and here I was the next morning shooting the target like a crazy person.
'uuhm' I uttered out. He stepped closer, which made my heartbeat increase immediately.
'I told you not to let it get to you y/n, and yet not even 24 hours later you're here?'
I rolled my eyes, it was mainly because he confronted me precisely on what the issue was.
'I just need to be the best of the team alright' I eventually left out with a sigh
He instantly stepped closer again his front connecting with my back
'I---uh what are you doing?'
'You want to become better right? so just follow my lead' he said in almost a whisper as his face was so close, his lips near my ear so it was audible to me. His arm brushed against my right arm in which I was still holding the gun.
'okay now just take a shot' he said, his voice was very stern like a real professional. It was hard for me to focus considering we were so closely connected. It really did something to me.
okay y/n focus
I raised my arm with the gun and pointed it at the target. A shiver went up my spine when his left hand suddenly landed on my waist. He pushed my waist a bit back, correcting my posture and position. His hand positioned below my elbow, raising my arm height just a tiny bit.
'I think you're good t..' Jimin started but was interrupted by a loud pang as I fired the gun.
It was a perfect hit. right in the middle.
My mouth dropped, I mean I had hit the middle more often but it was so unexpected.
'Okay now do it again' Jimin said, not moving from behind me and still with this sternness in his voice. I positioned myself again and thought of the height of my right arm and the angel of my waist. I fired the gun again, and again right in the middle. the fact that such little adjustments could make a difference.
I turned around in excitement, my face almost touched Jimin's at this point. I immediately froze and to my surprise so did Jimin. It was for a split second that I could see his eyes trailing to my lips until he snapped out of it.
He cleared his throat and stepped back.
'I think you got it, so practice regularly and you'll be the best of the team' he indicated and then left while I was left dumbfounded.
