"Okay, okay. I'll go and ask Life to create a new body for you. If you need anything, just think about it, and it will appear. Feel free to do what you want here."
Death turned to leave, but Harry stopped him to ask one last question, "where is here?"
"Limbo," Death replied, "I'll be back in a few years, bye."
...
"Are you ready to be born?" Death said, popping out of nowhere.
Harry whirled around from where he was watching trains go past. Death left him only moments ago saying he would be back in a few years.
"Now?" Harry asked, "but you said a few years."
"That I did, young master," Death replied, "but I also said time works differently here. It's time for you to be born now."
"I will still remember Tom, right?" Harry asked.
"Of course," Death answered.
"Will I be able to speak with you once I'm born?"
"Yes, you just need to call me by my name. You will have to learn to talk first. And I advise doing it in a place where there isn't anyone else around. It would probably frighten them to see a baby summoning Death," Death answered.
Harry nodded in understanding, "who will be my new parents?"
"That will be a surprise," Death said with a smirk and snapped his bone fingers, and Harry vanished in a flash of light.
...
He was in a dark and squishy place, then he could hear screaming, and a few minutes later, all he could see was bright lights.
Everything was so bright that all Harry could do was close his eyes.
When Harry tried to tell whoever was holding him to turn the light off, all that came out was a high pitch wail.
Harry didn't understand what was going on. He felt large hands pass him around. He kept his eyes closed and tried to tell the people to let him go, but all he could let out were loud cries.
Finally, he was gently dumped into a pair of large arms which held him gently.
Harry stopped crying and nuzzled into the gentle hold.
Harry guessed that he had just been born, which meant that he was a baby now. No wonder the arms around him were so big. The arms probably belonged to his new mother.
Harry stretched his baby lips into a small smile, remembering that in this life, he will have parents. He may not have had patents in his previous life, but he did have Tom.
Oh, Harry remembered, Tom, how was he supposed to get to Tom. He couldn't just walk there. He didn't even know where Tom was. And it wasn't like he could just ask his new parents to take him to Tom. They probably never heard of Tom.
Thinking of his parents, Harry decided to try and open his eyes again. He blinked his eyes open and looked up at what he guessed was his mother.
First, Harry noticed the long red hair. He reached out a small stubby hand to try and grab a handful of the hair.
"Oh, James," he heard his mother coo, "look at his eyes. Aren't they wonderful?"
A head suddenly blocked Harry's view of his mother. The head had messy black hair and round wire glasses which covered brown eyes.
"They're just like yours," what Harry guessed was his father murmured.
"They're much brighter than mine," his mother said.
