Chapter 4 : Explanation

Shikamaru POV

I saw her leave the table. I saw her sad face thinking about something. After she left the room, my father and mother became serious.

"Poor girl, she almost lost her home when she was little" my mother said.

"And now she was left by her father and mother who went on a mission," continued my father.

"What mission?" I said curious, I don't understand why I said that.

"S-rank mission, sneak and retrieve the stolen scroll, then kill some of the targets in the bingo book" my father said.

My mother was shocked and held her breath, whereas I couldn't believe what dad just said.

"Hokage-sama ordered the two of them to do this mission there must be a special reason. Hokage-sama couldn't have given this mission if it wasn't for their strengths" My father explained.

"B-but, isn't this too heavy for a 9 year old??" my mother asked trembling.

"Let's just pray that they both survived the mission," said my father with a sigh.

"Shikamaru" My father called me.

"Yes?"

"Please take care of (Y/n) while her father and mother are away, come closer to her. She needs a friend to pour out all her emotions. She can't possibly hold it in herself"

"But father-" Before I could finish speaking, my father continued.

"She had been abandoned by her clan since she was 5 years old, and that was when a child went through an unforgettable trauma" explained my father.

I fell silent. Then sigh.

"Okay.. This will be a troublesome job.." I said giving up.

"Thank you, Shikamaru" My father smiled.

I sighed, then stood up and walked away from the dining table. I came out of the room and went to where (Y/n) was. When I arrived at the door, I saw in the corners of the door there was frozen water dew. I heard crying behind the door.

I knocked on the door, waiting for an answer from her. I saw the ice on the door instantly melt, and (Y/n) opened the door. I saw her smiling as if nothing had happened, but it was a waste because I already knew.

"You don't have to hide it" I tell her.

Instantly her expression changed, from a cheerful face to a sad face, her smile slightly withered. She had guessed that I heard her cries.

Apparently he heard me..

I can't lie to myself anymore in front of him. I avoided his gaze and started to do something. I took the hair tie that was in my hair, then looked at him.
