I tilted my head curiously as I watched the volleyball game. I was never fond of it, but I was only here because my best friends were playing...against my boyfriend. I was growing bored of watching the game, so I let my eyes wander around the court seating, finding a very familiar face across the seating. Inarizaki high school. I stood from my seat and quietly slipped passed people before setting myself in the seat beside the familiar boy.
"Hey." He immediately turned his head to look at me with a gentle smile.
"I didn't know you were here." I shrugged, smiling for the first time in a while today.
"Well my two best friends are playing Nekoma today, so, had to come support everyone." Suna nodded, handing me his water bottle in a sort of offer.
"It's hot outside, so..." I nodded with a smile, taking it from his hand and having a few sips before screwing the liid back on.
"Thank you. How have you been, by the way? I haven't seen you in months!" I twisted form looking at the volleyball court to look at him, sitting with my legs crossed over each other with my body facing him.
"Um, good, yeah good. It's been a bit boring. You?" I swayed from left to right.
"Pretty boring. I'm not a fan of volleyball, and I have to sit in loads of practices, and hear loads about it..." Suna nodded, remembering something and grabbing his bag from under his chair. He pulled something out before offering hit to me.
"Sorry it's late..." I gently took it from his hands and read over the front.
Happy Birthday, (Y/n) <3
I looked up to him with the softest smile, looking back down and opening the envelope, and thus the card.
Wishing you the best on your 17th!
"You...remembered?" Suna nodded, handing me an additional small box.
"I don't see you much, but we're good friends." I took the box from his hands and hesitantly pulled the lid from it, setting it on my leg as I stared at the contents.
"It's so pretty..." It was this little black ribbon necklace, but the charm on it was a little volleyball, as much as I hated the sport, the necklace was beautiful.
"I know you hate volleyball...but I think it's a nice sentiment since you met everyone through volleyball..." He was right, I met Hinata and Noya because I'd stumbled upon the gymnasium they used for practice...I met Kuroo because I had come to a match with my school...And I met Suna because well volleyball match, but I'd technically met him in the corridor and his friends forced him to talk to me, specifically the twins.
"It's beautiful, thank you." I quickly hugged him as the final call for the match to end was done. "I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?" Suna nodded, a bright smile crossing his lips as I stood up with the gift and card back in their box and envelope. I retuned the smile and headed off to the stairs where I could get down to the court floor. As soon as I reached the bottom of the stairs, after having gathered my bag, I was ambushed by Noya and Hinata, tackling me in a hug.
"You came!" I laughed at their enthusiasm and pat their heads.
"Like I'm not going to support my best friends!"
I was soon pulled to my feet by a smiling Nekoma Captain.
"I see your friends already found you-"
"Kuroo!" I screamed with a bright smile, shooting up and hugging him tightly.
"When'd you get here?" Is hugged as he returned my hug.
"Like twenty minutes ago, I've been hanging out with Suna-"
"Rintaro Suna?" I nodded with a smile, although Kuroo's expression fell. "The one guy, out of all of the teams here right now, who has the biggest crush on you?" I stared at him, stepping back a little.
"Excuse me?"
"When we're playing a match, the one person you go to hang out with, is the one guy who likes you?! I'd rather you even hung around that damned Oikawa!" I stared at him in surprise.
"Suna's nice though...I like hanging out with him..." I dropped Kuroo's hands. "You're asking me not to hang out with one of my closest friends...That's like asking me to stop talking to Noya, or Hinata-"
"It's nothing like that! Neither of them look at you the way he does!"
"No! Because they're like my brothers! And right now you're acting like mine!" I shouted right back at him, just as my biological brother rounded the corner.
"Now, now, why its everyone shouting?" I whipped around at the sound of the voice.
"Toruu..." He furrowed his eyebrows. The softness in my voice caught his attention and he became on edge.
"Why are you shouting at her?" Oikawa's expression fell, glaring at my boyfriend before grabbing my hand. "Yell at her again like that, or try to be controlling, and I'm getting a court-mandated restraining order on the grounds of you being crazy." My brother looked Kuroo up and down. "I don't want you near my sister if you're going to be screaming at her for having friends. You're being an asshole, Rooster-head."
