Our Last Waltz

CHAPTER 16

For the first time, he felt his heart moving at a fast speed. he is now looking at the woman he loved the most. those times where they were still together. one by one, it all appeared inside his head. he could even picture the places they both always visit, and now, that place was just a memory coped inside his heart.

it felt so absurd to see her still smiling, with all the pain she is holding. it felt she is not the same woman he met years ago: the woman who use to cry over little things. but today, the woman she met carries a lot of pain but not even a single tear escaped from her eyes. it was ridiculous and painful at the same time.

"Are you sure?" Haey gave the man a glare before nodding for the third time.

if I were on Hyunjae's shoes, I would never let the man that changed Haey come inside the room. he was the man that gave her nightmares every night; that made her suffer a lot; made her chase something that never came true; the man that made her lost in her life.

Hyunjae didn't even spare a glance at the latter and immediately got out of the room, banging the door. Jaehyun chuckles at the lad's behavior before sitting in the chair in front of the bed. Haey raised her both brows, indicating him to speak first.

"Congratulations to both of you.." he first start his words, "thank you, Jaehyun." she gave him a small smile. "I heard the medications are now worthless," he tried to hold his tears back by looking up and blinking them out.

"you know, you reminded me of my parents. I love them so much, but I was not there when they left. I was left with one note. On that note, my life depended on that single note but none of the words were convenient. I was left with nothing and I blamed them for so long."

"however they died because they were also left with no choice. they were sick and hid it from me..." she could see how he held his heart from falling. "from that day, I promised myself to be always there to the people I cherish, and one of them was you Haey. but I can't even love you and am now guilty for what I had done before."

"I overheard the conversation of Johnny and Mark last 3 months ago, about your condition. that is why you always see me inside your house. not to hang out with Johnny, but to observe every step you make because I want to make it up to you.."

even though his words were sincere and came out with all of his heart, the lass could only give him a smile, a genuine one. this was the words she always wanted to hear from him but it never came. it made her think, do I have to be in a dangerous situation just to hear people around say lovely things about me? 

no, she's wrong. Jaehyun kept his own feelings inside because he was scared to commit love again. from all the heartbreaks he had gone through, this was the most sincere love he experienced. but sadly, he was too late to express them again, for he came out as a danger to the woman he loved the most.

"first of all, I have a boyfriend." she clears her throat, before turning her face into a serious one. "I forgive you, Jaehyun. I already did. but what hurts me the most was the way you treated our relationship back then. I don't want to bring them up now since I am not single already."

"I know, I was indeed a mess back then. I can't even believe I am a royal lad," he muttered to himself but it was clear to her ears since it was just both of them inside the room. "I'm sorry I can't fix the mess and pain I gave you back then. I don't even know myself at that time. I was too lost in life. but all I could do is to apologize. even if it isn't sincere to your ears and is inconceivable."

"We could still label ourselves friends in our hearts, you know.." she creeped out a small smile, in a teasing manner.
"you're crazy, do you even know what you're talking about?" he responded with a chuckle. "yes, Jaehyun. it's enough to tell your heart I forgive you, despite the pain you gave me back then."

"then, I also want to be friends with you... shall we start over again?" he smiled, stretching out his hands. "hi, I'm Seo Haey. my boyfriend is Lee Hyunjae." she stretches out her hand.

Jaehyun won't lie about how cold and pale her skin was once they both shook each other'S hands. it use to be one of what he hates the most. but now was not the time to think about those, he was again drowning inside her galaxy eyes.

"Hello, I'm Jung Jaehyun.."

even if it was just friends, it was perfect enough to forgive his own self and heart. moreover, he knows the woman is too loyal to cheat on Hyunjae. he experienced that kind of side of her a lot in the past, where she would ignore and ran away from a bunch of men, even if he was not around. adorable isn't it?

for Jaehyun, her love was the worst thing that he experienced. he was lost for many years just because of her love. he never imagined he was this too much attached to her before, which made him go insane. but now that everything came out different, his heart slowly moved on and so is the pain caused by love.
