Emma's POV
It's been a week since the talent show and we're officially on spring holiday. We have a week and a half off for Easter and just a break from school. Taylor and I are currently waiting at the airport for Mollie to exit the terminal. To say I'm excited is an understatement, I'm ecstatic. This is the first time I'll see my best friend since she moved halfway across the country. I'm sitting in Taylor's lap bouncing my leg impatiently while waiting to see the familiar head of curly light brown hair walk through the terminal.
"Can't she like run, cause I'm getting restless here," I complain while leaning back into her chest.
"Em, she can't run, they'll think she's suspicious, she'll be here in a second," she says a matter a factly while checking her phone. I wait for a beat.
"It's been a second and she's still not here," I pout sassily.
"Em, I swear if you don't calm the fuck down and be patient," she insists while holding down my leg that I was bouncing. I huff and cross my arms over my chest in defeat. Minutes pass before a flood of people exit the terminal and I finally spot Mollie in all of her glory. I screech before jumping off Taylor's lap to run to Mollie. When she sees me she drops her things as I jump into her arms.
"I'm kidnapping you, you're not allowed to go back, it's a new law. And you died your hair?" I insist while burying my face into the crook of her neck. I gently stroke the now pastel pink hair that hangs down her back to add to my comment. We hold each other tightly as if we'd each disappear while Taylor patiently waits behind us.
"Trust me I don't want to leave again. Yeah, and you were just sitting on her lap. Is there something I don't know about?" she teases in a whisper. I blush and shush her while pulling away. I give her an I'll tell you later look, which she understands and nods. She looks towards Taylor and smiles. "Hey Taylor, it's great to finally see you in person," she says embracing her in a welcoming hug. When they pull away Mollie picks up her carry-on and we walk towards baggage claim.
Once she's collected everything, we head out to my car and pack her bags in the back with our stuff. The plan is to leave for New York City from here, so we all pile into the car. I'm starting off driving, Taylor is sitting in the passenger seat, and that leaves Mollie in the back. I set up my E-ZPass so we don't have to stop for tolls, then I hand my phone to Mollie before starting the car. "Since you're alone in the back, you get to be in charge of the music. However, you also have to take our recommendations," I instruct and she nods and salutes playfully.
"Hell, I think being back here is better than being up there," she jokes while spreading out, propping her feet up on the back seat facing the window across from her. She starts playing music and our trip begins, windows down and music blasting.

I laugh at a comment Taylor just made towards the person who was just tailgating us. "Ya know, I'm really starting to feel like a third-wheel back here. How must I survive a whole week and a half of this?" Mollie speaks up tiredly from the back seat. I stop laughing and glare at her through the rear-view mirror. She mouths, "I knew it," before pumping her fists in the air.
"Awww, you agreed to third-wheeling so you really can't complain," Taylor retaliates causing me to blush furiously. I hold the wheel tighter as I exit the interstate and onto a toll highway. Did she really just say that? Maybe she was just joking around, there's no way she felt the same way.
"Em, relax," Taylor says after taking notice of my tense reaction. As she says this, she reaches out for my hand to calm me down. "How about we switch, you've been driving for hours. Rest a bit, okay?" she offers. I shake my head.
