"Why are you here?" I'm surprised at how dark my voice sounds, this doesn't even sound like me to be this angry. Jeffery lets out a sneer as if to find this entire situation somehow humorous, Paul snarls loudly from below the trees.
"I'm just making sure you are adjusting nicely to your new life" He comments. His red eyes pore over my face, I glare at him. "I see your dog is still following you around"
His petty comments about Paul are starting to get under my skin.
"What do you want?" I snap at him, his cold expression returns to his face.
"You don't seem very happy with your new life." Jeffery states ignoring my previous question. "Have your little friends informed you on how to kill a vampire, yet?"
My expression turns serious while I stare back at him from the tree, my nails dig into the bark.
"Why do you ask?" I breathe out.
Part of me already knows that answer deep down. He smirks coldly while glancing down at Paul and the rest of the pack, Jeffery's expression turns hard again before he looks back up at me.
Before I can say another word Jeffery begins jumping from tree to tree, I watch as he lands smoothly on the dirt ground. The pack including Paul chase him while their angry growls can be heard growing faint the more distant they become. When I make my way down the tree I feel confused and angry, my dad— Jeffery bit me for what? If my my mom is coming here tomorrow then I'm going to have to keep a very close eye on her, as will the rest of us.
Paul lives near the reservation but not directly on it, if Jeffery is brazen enough to come near the reservation I am sure he will come in it if it means hurting my mom or anyone else I love.
The run back to Paul's house for me is only a few seconds at the speed I had been going. I need to figure out a way to protect my mom, Quil and the rest of the pack will help me no doubt. A hour passes by before Paul enters the house, he is wearing new jean cut offs while his chest remains bare. He takes a seat across from me at the dining room table, I run a hand through my hair feeling stressed out about this entire situation.
"Talk to me..." He pleas quietly.
Paul reaches a hand out for mine, this time it's the comforting warmth I know and love. Nevertheless we need to get all of this sorted out between the two of us, I want to know everything that he didn't tell me. I want to know what he didn't share for my sake.
"I don't know where to start honestly." I let out a breath.
"Start wherever you want to, I'll answer anything you want. But please don't walk away again." He states with worry in his eyes.
Paul's pleas are enough to make me feel awful about this entire situation. He never meant to hurt me, he was trying to save me in his own way.
"The night you broke up with me, you made it seem like you never loved me..." My voice turns hushed though I know he can still hear me.
"You said you wanted me to move on from you."I'm not sure where I am going with this but I would like an answer to everything that he said or did that's hurt me. Paul breaks our gaze while looking down at the table sadly, his brows pull together while he swallows deeply. When he looks back up at me again, the same sad expression remains.
"I never meant to hurt you and I've never stopped loving you. I thought if Jeffery thought you had moved on from me that he would leave you alone." He answers calmly.
"And when I tried to move on from you—You just— You wouldn't let me, you kept showing up" I frown now feeling annoyed at the entire situation, Paul nods glumly.
