"What do you think about living together?"
We were stunned with the words that just came out of my mom's mouth. Why would we live together? Silence filled the room and it looks like everyone is thinking.
"Can I bring Kuma and Kai?" Jennie unnie said and I looked at her with furrowed eyebrows. "Oh! And Dalgomie?" Jisoo unnie asked excitedly. Am I the only one who is confused? I looked at Lisa and she looks like she's thinking of something. "Then I had to bring Leo and Luca with me," she seriously bargain. What?!
"Wait—mom, why? Where would we live? What are those boxes for?" my mom held my hands to calm me, she cleared her throat "We got our old jobs back in Australia. Alice is going with us, she's going to study law there. We would take you with us but no one will look after the house and I assume that you don't want to leave Korea so soon." she's right I don't want to leave yet, I'll miss everyone especially Lisa.
"I spoke to all your parents, Lisa your mom said you can live here if you want." which earned a fist pump from the youngest and a 'Hell yeah!'. "I mean, you practically live here already, might as well move in." I said and that earned a laugh from the unnies.
"Jisoo, your parents also said you could live here and that you should take Dalgom with you. Same with you Jennie, you can bring Kuma and Kai." this house would be a disaster if all our pets are here.
"This will give you girls independence and responsibility, but we trust you to make good decisions." I'm a little bit sad that they're going but happy because I get to live with my favorite humans in the world.
"Besides, we don't want our Rosie to be all alone and to be honest baby... I don't want your singing loud ass back in Australia, I want me a peaceful sleep. " my dad came into the room and sat besides my mother. Am I really that loud?
"So, this is an escape plan to get away with me?" I said while wearing a poker face, "Chaeyoung-ah, let's be honest. I live two houses away yet I can hear you singing Beyoncé and it's awful," Lisa exaggerated I playfully slapped her and everyone laughed out loud.
"So, what do you girls think? You want to move in?" I asked them with a smile on my face, they all agree and shouted in excitement. Oh my god, they're gonna move within three days! Can we survive this? What will happen to us?
"Can I share a room with Chaeyoung?" Lisa asked. Everyone looked at her suspiciously. "Ah! Rosie is blushing!" my sister Alice joined us and sat beside me. "What? No!" I hid my face as they starts to tease me.
"We have four rooms here but if you want to share you can," my dad said and my mom agreed. "Jennie and Jisoo? You want to share a room?" my mom asked them and I swear, I saw Jennie unnie bowed her head with a tint of pink on her cheeks. "Oh yes!" Jisoo unnie looked excited, she even wear her famous smirk.
What is going on with the two of them? Lately, they've been hanging out just the two of them. They look at each other like a married couple and the weird thing is Jisoo unnie is so clingy to Jennie but not us?
I shrugged my thoughts when Lisa spoke beside me, "Chaeng-ah, help me pack later? I want to settle in earlier than the others," she whispered "Why?" I asked curiously "Ah I'm just excited," she said with her baby voice that I found so cute.
I looked over the table and found that my parents and sister left the four of us alone, we discussed on what to do once we settled in here, we were all excited to be living together.
"Should we host a party?" Jennie unnie whispered in case my parents are listening to our conversation, "Jisoo unnie doesn't like parties and alcohol," I said as a fact, if anyone of us is lightweighted in alcohol it's Jisoo unnie, you can't trust her even with a little bit of alcohol and she just likes to play video games so yes, she doesn't like to socialize.
I'm the opposite though, I may be the class nerd and the shy girl from music club but I appreciate a good party and alcohol. You see I lived in Australia for 8 years, the wild and care free culture is still in my blood.
"Okay, so no party then?" what a whipped mandu. "If you want to, Jendeuk you can have your party," Jisoo unnie smiled adorably while resting her head on the other girls shoulder and pinching her chubby cheeks.
We spend the rest of the afternoon just talking, eating and goofing around until it's time for the two oldest to go home. Lisa held my hands and I followed her to the door and she shouted "Mom! Can Chae spend the night at ours? She'll help me pack!" which earned a 'yes' and 'take care' from my mom upstairs.
We walked in a comfortable silence while we held hands and swinging it back and forth. Lisa and I were never good in words when we are together, we show our affection through actions.
We arrived at her house and was met with a smell of thai food, "Ah! Why does it always smells good at your house," I said while inhaling the savory scent. "Have you forgotten that you are in the house of the great Marco?" she said with pride, her step father is a well known chef across the world and I love when he cooks!
"Hurry let's go to the kitchen," Lisa dragged me to the kitched where we saw the chef working, "Girls! Are you joining us for dinner?" he said in english with his swiss accent "Is it okay if I join?" I asked with my aussie accent he agreed and I looked over his shoulder watching him cook the best thai food, my mouth is already watering.
"Hi daddy!" Lisa said with her cute baby voice while she kissed her father's cheeks. Lisa then dragged me upstairs to her bedroom, "Dinner starts at thirty!" he reminded us.
I went to sit at her bed and reached for the ukulele sitting beside her cabinet, I strummed some chords and begin freestyling while Lisa is busy getting all her clothes out of the drawers and lazily pack them in the suitcase that she laid across the floor.
"You know, we don't have to pack everything at once. Our home is literally two houses away." I said when I saw her struggling with closing the zipper of her suitcase. "I know but I want everything to be ready!" she grunted and I offer to help by sitting on top of the suitcase, she immediately zipped it up and went to get another one.
"Girls! Dinner!" we heard her father called us and we immediately went downstairs to prepare for dinner. Dinner with the Manobans felt so normal, it feels like I belong to this family. Through the dinner we talked about Lisa moving to our house and how much they're gonna miss her and such.
"Ah! I'm just next next door! It's not like I'm in another country!" Lisa whined that earned a laugh from her parents. Lisa's mom promised that she will visit occasionally to make sure were okay in which Lisa refused because she said "we can take care of ourselves" in a sassy way. "You can't even cook." I laughed at the response. "Jennie and Jisoo unnie will be there!" she smiled proudly and I just shake my head in response.
After we finished dinner, I thanked Lisa's dad and again went upstairs. Lisa threw me some of her clothes for me to sleep in, I changed in the bathroom and when I came back Lisa is already in her pajamas and is now under the covers. She tapped the space beside her and I gladly lied down beside her.
She turned to her side to face me and I did the same, our nose is almost touching as I can feel her warm breath. I looked at her eyes and saw them staring at me with curiosity none had a courage to break the staring contest, I've known the thai girl since I was a kid so I knew she had something to say. It's like she's having a battle with her self and is in deep thought whether to tell me or not.
"Chaeyoung..." she starts, I hummed letting her know that I'm listening. "What do you like in a guy?" she asked and I was startled with her question, I never expected her to asked me this, I wanted to tell her that I like someone like her but I can't tell her that can I? Instead I told her the characteristic she had without being so obvious. "I like someone nice with a good voice, someone genuine... oh tall and innocent." basically you.
"Lately, I've been confused..." she said stopping to think what she had to say next. "Um- about my sexuality like I don't know.." she's trying hard to explain to me what she was about to say I smiled to encourage and to make her more comfortable. I can see that she's in almost close to crying. "It's okay Lisa, you don't have to label yourself. It takes time." because I'm the same.
"No, I want to tell you." she breathe in deep and I genuinely smiled.
"I like girls."
