Safe Haven (Original Chaelisa Fanfic)

Chapter 9

"Rosie! Can you just stop?!" Lisa angrily shouted at me. She looked my way and held my wrist while her other hand is on the steering wheel.

"Lisa! Both hands on the wheel please!" I said as I remove my hand from her grasp. I want her to focus on driving. It's snowing and the roads are slippery.

"Tell me what's wrong please," she begged but I'm not ready to tell her yet, not like this. When she didn't receive any answers from me she pressed her foot on the gas and we're on full speed.

"Lisa!" I shouted as I saw blinding lights coming from a truck towards us. The hood crumpled, the glass shatters, and the sound of squealing tires can be heard.

Next thing I knew I was trapped inside an upside down car, with an airbag right in front of me. Yet, I hit my head, I felt blood dripping down the side of my face. I looked at my side and saw no sign of Lisa. Her airbags didn't work, the glass of the front windshield are shattered. Tears starts to roll down my face when I saw a lifeless Lisa on the ground.

Even though my body is aching and I'm on the verge of fainting I was worried for the younger girl. As I tried to crawl from the car window I yelped in pain when I couldn't move my hand, it was crushed between metals. But I couldn't just stay here I kicked the metal door and force my hands out.

I cradled my hand as I limped towards the other girl. I pat her face to see if she's conscious, she wasn't responding. She had it worse than I do.

"No no no, Lisa! Please! Wake up! Lili! I need you to wake up!" I don't want how things ended up between us.

"Please, I need you!" I kept gently tapping her cheeks, when I saw some sign of life on her which she opened her eyes briefly. "Chaeng-ah... I'm sorry." she even tried to reach my face but she doesn't have enough power to move. Instead I hold her hands to help her.

"It's okay! I just need you to... Lisa? Lisa!" her eyes are now closed and I panicked. I quickly yelled for help, the driver of the truck that hit us was lucky that he's fine and is on one piece. And is now calling someone on the phone.

The truck that hit us is suprisingly at a good shape only having a dent on the corner of the bumper compare to our small car that is now a complete wreck.

I was cradling Lisa's head, crying nonstop as I saw her body slowly giving up. I don't remember her being this heavy. I tried to stop the bleeding from her head which is bleeding nonstop. Ignoring the pain I was feeling on my arm and legs.

When the ambulance is now in sight they immediately went to Lisa, transferring her and me to the ambulance. They kept asking me questions but everything was a blurred, I was only looking at Lisa and everyone at the ambulance that are panicking.

"She's not waking up!" one guy shouted, and I was about to stand up to went to her side but one stopped me.

Someone treated my wounds and looked at my broken wrists, "No, please. I'm fine. Please focus on her." I begged them as I cried my eyes out.

Once we reached the hospital, they immediately transfer Lisa to the emergency room while they guide me to treat my wounds, do stitches on my head and some x-rays for my wrist and other parts to see if I broke other bones.

The police came, they hand me a bag containing our phones and they proceed to ask for some information, they already called Lisa's parents and soon enough they came barging in. Worried plastered on their faces as they hugged me crying as I kept apologizing to them. But they assured me that it's not my fault. I still feel guilty.

When the Kim's arrived, Lisa's parents left me in their care and went to talk with the doctors. The unnies engulfed me in a hug while Jennie unnie cried with me, the oldest kept her composure being the strongest one among us.

"Chaeyoung-ah, what exactly happened?" Jisoo unnie asked and I told her everything from what happened at the party, who Ryujin is and I even confessed my love for the thai girl which I didn't get much reaction.

"I love her," I sobbed as they hugged me, it felt good to admit it, I just wished this is in other situation where I told Lisa.

"We know, Chaengie." I guess I was just that obvious. The moment was cut off when my phone starts to ring, I looked at the caller ID and it's my dad. I guess the Manoban's called my parents.

"Baby! Are you okay? I heard what happened, please tell me you're okay Roseanne." I heard my dad panicking, his voice is cracking.

"Daddy!" I cried with the pain physically and emotionally, I missed them. At times like this I want my family around but I don't want to be a burden for them.

"Roseanne, we're coming back baby don't worry." I heard rustling in the background maybe they're packing.

"No! Please I'm fine, but Lisa..." I couldn't continue my sentence because I don't know her current situation right now. They've been taking too long.

"We know baby.. We'll come home if you want us to." Mom is now the one talking her voice filled with sadness when she heard that Lisa's not doing great. "No, I'm sure. I'm hurt but nothing major." the line went silent.

"Are Jisoo and Jennie with you? If so, give them the phone I wanted to talk with them." I hand over the phone to the oldest which they gladly receive. They talked for a while, looks like something serious I didn't heard any of it.

When the doctor came out with the results they bid their goodbye to my parents and proceed to listen to the doctor.

Great, I have a broken wrists, elbow and an ankle which they will operate. I can't feel any pain within them I couldn't even move them. What's worse is that it's in my left hand.

They put me in a room to stay while they are booking an OR. The unnies stayed with me the whole time. I asked them to know what's Lisa's condition and they went on to find Lisa's parents. I just need to know that she's okay.

An hour has passed and they came barging with bloodshot eyes and I started to think the worse possible things.

"Lisa.. she's in surgery, Chaeyoung. She had major injuries, femur is broken, her skull got cracked open which results to internal bleeding, her ribs is also broken damaging her lungs.. Chaeyoung, I'm sorry." I cried harder each time she lists everything that is broken from Lisa. I can't help but feel guilty for everything.

I cried and cried until I can't anymore. Now, I'm just staring at the white wall waiting for my operation. I feel bad when I saw the unnies sleeping uncomfortably at the tiny bench. They must been tired from the party and everything that has happened.

We were supposed to have fun, I was suppose to confess my feelings, that was the plan. To reconcile with my best friend and tell her I love her like she's the universe.

I'm afraid, I can't tell her that now. I kept praying to God or whoever the most powerful one to help Lisa. I don't need help, I'm fine. I need Lisa. I can't keep going without her. A tear escaped my eyes, I quickly wipped it off. I don't wanna cry no more.

Hours passed by and they kept moving my operation telling me that they needed extra hands on some other surgery and I am fine with it, mine is nothing major and I'm sure whoever needs that surgery is far more important.

I didn't sleep, instead I watch the sun rise from the big window on my room. I watch how the rays of the sun touched the face of the two beautiful girls sleeping. I watched and I realize how lucky I was, having these two by my side and having to survive the accident, I know I shouldn't be thankful because Lisa is still in surgery but I know Lisa and she will survive this. I just know it, she'll fight for us. She's strong.

The door opened and that startled the two girls sleeping I laughed at their situation messy hair and drool dripping at the side of their lips, I was shocked to see Doctor Kim. Jennie's dad. I almost forgot that they own this hospital, she smiled at me and went to her daughter who is now complaining how her back hurts and how stiff her neck is, the same with the other Kim who is stretching in front of me.

"Have you heard from Lisa?" her daughter asked, which earned a sad smile from her father, he looked at all of us, his eyes got fixated on me as he pursed his lips.

"She's in a coma."
