Sunsets signified endings, closures to chapters, however I found new meanings in them. As the sun dips into the horizon and brings about the twilight, there is calmness. Serenity. A promise of renewal. That after the hardships and heat of the day, you find stillness and rest.
It was funny to think that over two year ago I was at this very beach in Ploumanac'h. Almost two years and I still barely know how to pronounce it but that's okay. Mikie had it worst. He can't say it at all. Nabubulol siya.
I was on the same beach where I wrote that letter. The waves still crashed roughly on the rocky shores and town still as quaint as I remembered. The only difference now was I was with Mikie. I sat between his legs, looking out into the ocean as he read the letters I wrote him. I promised myself I would never show it to him but he insisted on reading them. I wasn't going to lie, I was hella embarrassed! Ang dramatic ko kaya sa mga sulat na 'yon. As if namang si Charo yung sinusulatan ko.
"That's enough," I pouted, stealing the letter from him but his reflexes were quicker, lifting his arm so that it would be out of my reach. Damn my short arms.
"I am enjoying them," He chuckled.
"Exactly! You're enjoying them too much."
"You wrote all of these?"
"Hindi. Nagcommission ako ng ghost writer— Of course ako nagsulat niyan!" I said in disbelief
"Namiss mo talaga ako noon, no?" Now he was getting cocky with the information he held.
I rolled my eyes in irritation. "Bahala ka nga diyan—" I attempted to stand up but he pulled my wrist back down, his arms wrapping securely around my waist.
"Ito naman hindi mabiro. Pikon na pikon pa rin ang future misis ko," He coaxed me sweetly. "You really think I would let you go again?" Mikie rested his check on the crook of my neck.
Blood rushed to my cheeks definitely not because of the cold.
When Mikie and I decided on places we would vacation in, Ploumanac'h was on the top of our list. I remembered showing him the pictures of the place and he instantly fell in love with it. We visited a couple of places prior to coming here. Apparently, he had a lot of things planned fpr this trip. A private dinner at a vineyard in Italy, Museum hopping in Germany, and of course the highlight of this trip: his proposal in Iceland. I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that I was engaged now. I would look at the sparking ring on my finger and I would start to cry all of the sudden. Yeah, I was definitely the dramatic one in this relationship.
"You know," Mikie snuggled close to me. "I never go to ask. That night at the gallery, sure na sure ako na aalis ka but you didn't. You stayed. What made you stay?"
