Song: Running with the Wolves (Wolfwalkers version)- Aurora

---------------------------------------------

Unknown POV

I track down the scent just past the bushes and fallen tree debris. I lunge through the leaves, letting a low growl slip as I sniff the air again. I am in front of a large structure that I assume is the backside of this pack's house.

I catch a glimpse of movement in the corner of my eye and snap my head toward it. A young boy's semi-dirty face behind a barred-up window excites my wolf. An overwhelming rush takes over me as I gallop to him. This is my mate. I examine his state and immediately try to find a way to get to him. I paw at the bars, feeling the heaviness within the cell.

"There's no use. I'm locked in here with all the other Omegas." My mate sighed.

My wolf becomes enraged; my eyes begin to redden. What does he mean he's locked up? I snarl.

My mate winces, and my eyes fade back to their natural blue. I lick his hand and disappear to the entrance of the house.

I shifted back to my human form. Luckily, I had tied some clothes to my leg. I hurried to put them on and knocked on the door. A male with golden eyes and dirty blond hair answered the door with a scowl.

"What the hell do you want?" He growled, rubbing his eyes.

"Sorry to disturb you so late, but I would like to speak to your Alpha as soon as possible," I said in my formal Alpha tone.

"How about you come back when the sun is up." The blond male grumbled at me, slamming the door in my face.

I am stunned at the lack of formalness and manners this pack seems to have. Sure, I get it. It is like four in the morning, but where's the hospitality? I scoff, stripping my clothes to tie back on my leg. I shift to my wolf and gallop back to my pack in the buffer zone.

"Alpha, did you find your mate?" My beta Caz mind links as I appear from behind a tree.

"Yes, but their situation is... complicated."

"What do you mean?"

"He-"

"HE?"

Right now is the first time I've had to out myself. The Moon Goddess chooses your mate, but she may consider it if you have a preference.

"Yes, he," I spoke clearly.

"There must be a mistake, Alpha!" Caz shouts.

"There is no mistake. I am your Alpha, and he will be your Luna." I snap at Caz.

"But, Alpha, you're not gay."

I shoot daggers at him.

"Yes, I am."  I pause. "Now cut it out and get some sleep." I trot away to patrol the perimeter as my pack sleeps. I won't be getting any sleep tonight.

I watch the sun come up over the trees. My tail wags excitedly, but I stop myself before anyone can wake up to see it. I am an Alpha! I shouldn't be doing such puppy-like things. My face is hot at the thought of being caught. I look at my pack, and none of them are stirring.

My beta, Caz, is awake when I paw at him.

"Watch over the pack. I'm going to talk to my mate's Alpha. You may come when I give you the okay."

Caz nods, probably still processing that I came out to him last night. I brush it off and head back to the building where my mate is locked in.

Just as I was turning the corner of the building, I shifted into my human form, quickly pulling the clothes I had onto my body. I knocked on the door again, but it opened before I could. A different, much older male opened the door. He had brown hair, some premature grey hair peeking through, and pure black eyes. They seemed to have nothing behind them, no emotion.

"You must be the visitor from last night; please come in," he said with distaste. I followed him into his pack's house and into what I assume is his office.

We sat across from each other at his office desk in silence for a minute before he let out an agitated sigh.

"Why are you here, and who are you?" He glared into my soul, but it did not affect me.

"I am Samuel Dunn, Alpha of the Hazel Crest pack. My pack and I are traveling, and I came across my mate's scent last night. It led me here." I explain in the best Alpha tone I can.

"Okay, what is stopping you, then? Why did you need to talk to me?" He scoffed. I hate how this man acts like he is better than everyone and that nothing concerns him.

"Geez, what a bitch." My wolf laughs.

"Well, he is in your basement, and I figured you'd appreciate it if I came to ask for his release rather than storming your home." I smile, and my eye twitches slightly. The other Alphas' face drops.

"Are you certain?" He asks, now showing interest in the conversation.

"Yes, sir. I saw him through the window."

He stands.

"Then I shall take you to him."

"Finally." My wolf grows impatient.

"This guy is a shit Alpha. Who the hell keeps their Omega's locked up in a basement?" I accidentally mink linked with Caz.

"What the hell, Sam? I'm bringing the pack now. Sorry for disobeying your orders, but that doesn't sound safe for you to be alone there."

Goddammit. I hit myself mentally, but I don't argue. I watch as the Alpha grabs a thing of keys, and I stand to follow him to the basement. Walking down the stairs, I'm hit with his scent again. He smells of citrus and daisies, which is odd if you think about it. I'm assuming they aren't allowed out of this cell, so no showers, but there isn't much dirt smell on him. The Alpha stops in front of the cell.

"Which one is it?"

It is hard to see; it is pitch black down here. My wolf takes over my eyes; he is much better at seeing in the dark.

"He is asleep in the corner there with those-" My heart drops, realizing there are pups.

"What a monster!" My wolf growls loudly. I continue my sentence to keep the peace.

"By the pups." I point, keeping my emotions at bay. I notice the Alpha tense and frown as if he could do more than he already was.

"MELODY." The Alpha barks harshly.

"His name is Melody? That's gotta be the most adorable name ever!" My wolf gushes, almost howling. I smile faintly.

I can see the Omegas all wake up to the sudden loud noise. There are quite a few of them down here, I thought to myself. My eyes lock onto the small boy walking towards us, his hands behind his back and head bowed.

"Yes, Alpha Aremus?" I felt his heart beating rapidly.

"Your mate is here to retrieve you." Aremus unlocks the cell door, opening it just enough for Melody to slip out. Before Aremus can lock the cell, I place my hand on his.

"Alpha Aremus, would you allow me to take your Omegas into my pack? I only have one, and I'm sure she would enjoy the company." I plaster a fake smile on my face to appease him.

"You wouldn't want them. These Omegas are useless and dumb." He laughed.

"Everyone in my pack has a role, and being locked in a basement isn't one of them." I drop my smile, and Aremus stops laughing. He shoved my hand off of his and locked the cell.

"Fine, I will write an agreement and hold a meeting later. For now, please feel free to use our guest house across from the garden." Aremus gritted his teeth and stormed off up the stairs to his office.

"There's the hospitality." I chuckle.
