they sat in silence. thomas never let go of hayley, his arms were still wrapped tightly around her. they've only known each other for a few days but already he felt a need to protect her above all else. it was a scary feeling.

he felt her stir and looked down to notice she was sleeping. thomas glanced at the clock and realized it was 11pm. they must've been sitting there for hours. he picked up her up in his arms and carried her out of the room.

he didn't want to leave her in that locked room all by herself so he carried her to his room where he knew she'd be safe. his room wasn't anything fancy. his walls were a dark grey colour, the floors were cement, and the only things inside were a bed and a nightstand but it was better than the previous room.

he had a walk in closet and his own bathroom with a shower, which was way more than what most people had.

he gently laid her down on his bed and covered her up with the blanket before stepping back and admiring how calm she looked. her blonde silvery hair flowed all around her. the dark walls and the moonlight made her pale skin look like it was glowing.

he found an extra blanket in his closet and put it on the floor. he laid on it and stared up at the roof, getting lost in his thoughts.

so many things were happening at once. first, teresa wasn't by his side anymore. she was too determined to finish the blueprint that she didn't seem to care about what happened to him anymore.

second, they're going forward with the idea to send up a girl into group a, which was originally only supposed to have boys. not just any girl either. hayley's not like the others. thomas didn't know how except that she had panic attacks. but he knows there's something more to her.

thirdly, he's also going into the maze with her. the only reason he's not trying to change their minds about him going, is because he wants to protect hayley there. he'll forget everything he knows about the maze but he'll be able to protect her more with no memories there, than to have all his memories and just be watching her through a screen.

his head pounded with problems. he didn't know how his whole world could be turned around in just a few days.

he used to be the one making the game and now he's playing it.

"thomas."

he woke up to the sound of a voice saying his name over and over. he slowly opened his eyes to find hayley peering over him with her blonde hair falling neatly down either side of her head. she smiled slightly when she seen him open his eyes.
