Hadrian immediately opened his mouth to start spurting questions but was interrupted by Cinis who held up a hand and gave a look that said very plainly 'let me explain' Hadrian closed his mouth a gestured for Cinis to get on with it.
"Well, with you being master of death and me being death. We are sort of bonded and if we get to far apart from each other we will feel an immense pain and will die if kept apart for too long. Technically as I am not human, I count as a familiar and can be taken anywhere, so when you return to your own timeline and go to Hogwarts, I will be able to come with you." Hadrian took all this information in like a sponge and immediately started asking a bunch of questions.
"Are there any other benefits? Does this mean you don't have DNA? What about your blood? What would happen if you did a Gringotts inheritance test? Any other drawback? What if we needed to make you a customised rune sequence that needed your blood? What would happen then? Also how were you born? Can you-" At this point Hadrian was interrupted by Cinis
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa-" Cinis made a time out gesture "I am the only deity to find their eternal master in the history of ever, so we only know what Creation told us back in the begging, which is not very much." Hadrian made a gesture to continue, "Well, she basically said that when you find a mortal you deem worthy then you can accept them as your master and if they then accept you of their own free will then you will be bonded, the deity in question will then be able to access the farthest reaches of their power which at the moment would be too great for one deity so you need to find a mortal to share the load. Creation gave no details whatsoever about any of the stuff you asked about, but a lot of things we could find out together, that is, if you accept me."Hadrian was shocked that he was being given any choice in the matter. When he lived at Potter manor, he was always told what to say, what to wear and how to act. Lily and James had never even considered giving Hadrian a choice, but now, here was an all powerful being who was death himself, and he was giving Hadrian a choice. Tears came to his eyes at that fact. Cinis was extremely confused when he collapsed onto his knees with silent tears streaming down his face. But he sat down next to Hadrian and put an arm around him, comforting him, though he doesn't even know what is wrong. With a quiet hiccup Hadrian raises his head and gazes into Cinis's eyes.
"You're actually giving me a choice?" Hadrian whispered. Cinis internally scowled at this, the Potter's had reduced him to expecting to not be given a choice! Low his views of them were already plummeting, they seemed to start sinking further and faster at that statement. And given he had met people like Adolf Hitler, his expectations were already quite low. But Cinis did not let a drop of what he was thinking splash onto his face, he showed Hadrian a calm mask and a small, genuine, smile, and said in an even voice,
"Hadrian, you will always have a choice in whatever you do. You could turn me down or accept me, I will respect your wishes either way. You, will always, have a choice." It was forceful but gentle at the same time. It was spoken with a force that made Hadrian believe it. But was said kindly and in a way that earned the trust of those words. Hadrian admitted to himself that he already trusted Cinis, he knew that they were basically strangers and barely knew anything about the other. But he felt a connection to the deity, like their magic was calling to one another."Cinis, I- I accept you as..." Hadrian trailed of at the end not knowing how to finish that sentence. But what he had said seemed to do the trick because as soon as the words were out of his mouth a string of golden light shot out of his chest right over where his heart was and attached to Cinis's chest. The string glowed gold for a few seconds before darking to an obsidian black and crackling with power, but it didn't stay black for long. After three seconds it turned to pure white plasma, blinding both boys before dissipating to nothing. Once the two boys got over their temporary blindness, they locked eyes for a second before both bursting out into laughing. While Cinis's eyes filled with amusement while he was laughing, Hadrian's remained as cold and distant as ever, even if his face was smiling and laughing along with the other boy. Cinis noticed this but let it be, making a note to talk to Hadrian about it later.
Once the two boys had exhausted their laughter, they started to unpack Hadrian's bag and put the things away in their room. The first thing Hadrian took out of the bag was Rose's gift, he knew it probably wouldn't work in Imbetween but it was sentimental! Hadrian slipped it into the top draw on one of the ebony nightstands beside the bed. Hadrian then took out a large pouch full of all his shrunken books, tipping it out onto the floor Hadrian waved his hand over the pile of tiny books, as soon as his hand had passed over them, they started to enlarge. Once they had finished being un-shrunk, he now faced a mountain of books almost as tall as he was, not to mention quite wide. The wonders of shrinking charms. Hadrian smirked wickedly, because he knew that the next time the Potters entered their library, they were going to be faced with at least an eight of their rather ample collection missing. James would only care for the family history and social value those books held, Evie could not read and therefore would not care, and Lily would care for a while before she was distracted by the precious needs of the ickle-wickle girl-who-lived. Only Hadrian would actually care for the books within that house and he would continue to care until he either found a better library more worthy of his attention, or he died. Whichever came first.
Hadrian waved his hand once more at the books and they sorted themselves into manageable piles according to subject and lined up along the wall. Cinis smiled at the amount of power that Hadrian had just exhibited and wondered what sort of fool a person would have to be to miss the sheer amounts of power within the boy. He knew that any other magical who had mage sense or sight however strong would find no trace of magic within the boy, but Cinis also knew why. It was because the boy had the magic of a deity, possibly deities if he was lucky, and the magic of the deities could not be sensed or blocked or taken. It was impossible for any normal magical with mage sense/sight to tell the difference between a muggle and a deity when looking at them with their gift. That was why Albus too-many-names Dumbledore who had weak mage sense thought the boy was a squib, and that was why Rose Payne who had the gift of mage sight could not see any magic within the boy. But the sensors that the hospital used did not discriminate between different magic and picked up on it no matter what. It was unfortunate to see such a powerful boy shunned because of an old man's words.
Once Hadrian had made sure that all of his books were okay, he returned to unpacking. The next item he took out was the hooded black cloak, when Cinis saw this was the last of his worldly possessions he gave a small grimace, mostly at how sad it was that a child of one of the richest families in the world had only three things that he considered important, and how one of them was the cloak of another wizard. Not even his own cloak, but the cloak of another. Hadrian had always felt comfort in this cloak. He couldn't tell anyone why, he thought that maybe it was the familiar smell of mint and smoke and magic that never seemed to leave the cloak. Maybe it was the feel of the soft fabric, woven out of some strong silk so that nothing could rip it apart. But the only thing that mattered to Hadrian about the cloak was the way it wrapped around him, providing him with the safety of its strong fibres, and comforting him with it's smell. Hadrian never wanted to part with the cloak, and if he were to lose it and it be destroyed, he would be utterly shattered.
Hadrian folded the cloak and placed it on top of bed on the side next to his nightstand. Vanishing his backpack, Hadrian sat down gracefully on the bed (read- flopped) and closed his eyes. Sighing, Cinis flopped down next to him and stared at the ceiling. Hadrian opened his eyes and stared Death straight in the face and said,
"This is my side of the bed, scram!" Cinis laugh at this and jumped to his feet, on the bed, having taken his shoes of when he entered the room, and strode across it to the other side where he sat down with an exaggerated pout. Hadrian then slipped his shoes off, transfigured his robes into pyjamas and slid under the soft silk sheets. Cinis huffed but his pout vanished, he transfigured his robes into pjs as well and slid in on the other side of the bed to Hadrian. They each had their backs to one another while being as far away from each other as physically possible. And a few moments later at the exact same time, they slipped into Morpheus's realms. The next morning, the two boys woke up with Hadrian curled into a ball with Cinis's arms wrapped protectively around him. Morpheus chuckled at his handiwork...
