In which Jessie begins to remember who she really is after meeting a strange girl in the woods.
notes
Jessie's friend group is sent into a predicament after one of their party members goes missing. Will Byers disappeared without a trace after biking home alone after dark one night.
The very next night after his disappearance, the party meets a strange girl in the woods, and brings her back to the Wheeler Residence. After the girl had changed into warmer clothes, Jessie sat beside the girl to comfort her as the rest of her friends talked. She placed her hand on top of the girl's and suddenly saw images in her mind of three little girls sitting in a room, playing with toys together. When the image disappears, the strange girl looks at her for a moment before whispering two words. "Like me."
Jessie to decided to simply brush off the weird interaction with the girl, thinking it must've have been nothing. But the next day her and Mike skipped school to stay at the house with Eleven, Jessie touched her arm for second, and saw more images in her mind, this time a young girl, no older than 5, sat in a room by herself, while a man stood behind a glass barrier, watching her. She's brought back to reality as Eleven moves, suddenly interested in something from across the room.
When Dustin and Lucas showed up after school Jessie sat on the bed next El, but was careful not to touch her.
Jessie always defends El against Lucas and his remarks about her being a weirdo.
Every time Jessie touches El she gets—what she didn't currently know was—a flashback. One day, she hugs El and gets a major flashes of a bunch of different images flashing through her mind, one right after another. And it was that moment that she realized it was her in the flashbacks. That was her life. Later that day, she snooped in her mother's room for anything useful, and found adoption papers with Jessie's name on them. She used to live where El did. The people who treated El the way they did must've done something to Jessie's memory—or at least the very few she had—to make her forget.
Jessie did everything in her power to stop El from killing the demogorgan herself, even offering to take her to the annual school dance known as the snow ball (Mike doesn't like El in this fic), but El still sacrificed herself.
After El had sacrificed herself, Jessie found a file inside of the lab worker's van, the file had a picture of her when she was 5 years old, the number 010 on it, and written over the file in bold letters were the words 'failed experiment'. So that was all she was, nothing more than a failed lab experiment.
I don't have a lot of ideas for season two, but one thing is that Jessie doesn't have a problem with Max.
Throughout season 2, Jessie feels a sort of urge growing inside her, she feels as if there is something waiting to burst out of her.
When they were at junkyard, Jessie went outside of the bus after Steve because she was worried about him. A demodog ran straight at her, and she threw her arms in front of her face, but then the dog flew back, and Jessie could make out a blue hue around her. She had created a forcefield.
She ran back to the bus along side Steve, and every just looked at her in awe.
Jessie asks El to go to the snow ball with her, since she wasn't able to take her last year, and El agrees. They danced to the song, not caring about the many wandering, and judgeful eyes staring at them, all they cared about was each other. And with a strange urge of confidence, Jessie leaned forward and kissed El.
(That's pretty much all the ideas I have for s2, sorry.)
Okay, so season three does start out with El and Jessie hanging out, but they aren't just swapping spit like her and Mike were, they're just laying on El's bed, side by side, their legs tangled together, telling occasionally jokes and laughing at how corny they are, until Jessie has to leave.
So Mike still leaves early, but none of the party knows why, and they don't find out for a while, but Mike is secretly seeing someone he met that summer. El stays though until it starts to get late, and she really does have to leave for curfew, and Jessie comes with her.
Okay, so instead of El going to Max's house for advice about Mike, she goes their with Jessie, because Jessie had talked her into it, saying Max really isn't that bad. They decided to go to the ball, and Max wanted a break from Lucas anyways because apparently he had been annoying her recently.
When they see Mike at the mall El doesn't dump him of course because they aren't dating, but he still yells at Jessie and Max for letting her go some where as public as the mall, which ends in a fight.
During everything mind flayer, Jessie does everything in her power—literally—to protect El. She had practicing how to control her power with El, they had even tested a few other things to see if she had any more powers, but had so far come up fruitless.
Jessie runs towards El in the mall where Billy tried to give her to the mind flayer, and she puts a force field around herself and El to protect her, she keeps it up even when she sees Billy get impaled just in case, and holds it for a few more seconds after The Mind Flayer had disappeared.
Jessie comforts Max after Billy's death, and comforts El after Hopper's 'death'. (Also, I didn't put it before, but Hopper likes Jessie and El's relationship.)
Jessie cries when she says goodbye to El, and she makes sure she knows how she loves her.
