Eight o'clock in the evening when Peur called his Dad. After two rings, she heard him talked and greeted her.
"Good evening, ma chère fille. You were busy? You didn't answer my call, earlier." Nagtatakang saad nito.
"No, dad, I wasn't. I just left my phone inside the computer room and Doux was there with it while you were calling," she explained.
"Oh, kaya naman pala. By the way, how are you? Did you already have your dinner? How's Doux?"
"I'm fine and I already did," she nodded. "Doux is fine, too." Though she knows that he isn't.
"Well, then, you should rest now because tomorrow is a new day. I received a call from a contact. You should be prepared. Your flight will be done after a month." After that, her father ended the call and texted her the words that's always making her heart warm.
"I love you, ma chère fille."
Peur looked at the table beside her bed and took the heart-shaped picture frame.
She looked at the man who's hugging her from the back and gently touched the picture, pointing at the man's cheeks.
"I love you, too, dad."
Minutes have passed but Peur was still awake.
Peur has this talent on memorizing things and words easily, no matter how long or hard it is.
Quarter to eight when she decided to call Khliz Odette. She know it's her break time that's why she hurriedly waited for her to pick up the call.
"Peur! Oh, my dear friend. How are you? Bakit gising ka pa?"
"I'm okay. Well, hindi pa ako inaantok," saad nito. "How about you, how's work?" Peur turned on the loud speaker.
The monitor asked for the code.
She have a tattoo there. Personal iyong ipinagawa ng kanyang ama. It is the real meaning of her name. And that is also HER code.
"Okay, don't stress yourself, please. You know what I mean," Peur said.
Khliz was depressed before because of her work. Khliz became her responsibility. So as her duty, she studied in med-school for her to be close with Khliz. She help her through reminding her to always drink her vitamins everyday.
They became partners, friends, until Khliz became the old HER again, joyful and brave. As they graduated, Khhliz pursued her dreams to be a nurse while Peur finally decided to tell her the truth. Everything. And she's happy that Khliz was a very understanding woman. She even appreciated what Peur did.
"Concerned yarn?" Khliz chuckled. "Well, you know my job. It's stressing me out. But, I will. Thank you, Peur. I love you. Bye." She smiled.
