BELLA STEPPED OUT OF THE BATHROOM in her bathrobe and walked to her closet, pulling out her baby blue dress and a pair of shoes. tonight was her parents twenty-fifth wedding anniversary party, which they were having in the backyard of bella's north hollywood home. she unwrapped the towel from her head, letting her damp hair down and brushing her long brown locks.
the apartment was relatively quiet with only the faint sound of the radio playing. bella was able to get out of work early and so did johnny, but headed to the community college after work, now that he had started taking courses. he did what he said he was going to do; he worked an earlier shift starting at 8am, got out from work at 5pm, then headed to class.
bella hummed along to roxette's dangerous as she flipped through the pages of the march issue of vogue while drinking a cherry coke. bella pressed the soda can up to her lips, then headed to the bathroom to remove the curlers from her hair. she placed the plastic curlers in the sink as she fixed her hair, adding hairspray to every curl.
after finishing her hair, she walked back into the bedroom and slipped on her silk baby blue slip dress before walking to her jewelry box. she took out some gold earrings that her mother gave her, along the gold snake-like necklace and bracelet set that johnny bought for her back in new york.
bella grabbed her makeup bag and placed it on the side counter of the bathroom sink. she heard the sound of the door opening and keys being placed on the table.
"bella?" johnny called out from the living room.
"hey honey!" bella called out from the bathroom, applying eyeshadow on her eyelids. "how'd it go?"
"for my first week, it went better than i expected." johnny chuckled as he opened the fridge, grabbing a banquet and flicking the bottle cap.
"thats great." bella smiled as she searched for her lipstick in her makeup bag. she opened up the maroon colored lipstick as johnny walked to bathroom and stood at the doorway. bella noticed the blonde's gaze on her and giggled. "uh-huh, can i help you?"
"nope." johnny smiled as he kept his gaze on bella, pressing his lips to the bottle. he scanned her body with his eyes as bella fixed her hair.
bella giggled as she saw her boyfriend bite his lip through the corner of her eye, as she fixed her dress. "do i look okay?" bella sighed as she turned to johnny.
"you look gorgeous." johnny smiled. "your parents' party, that's later tonight right?"
"yeah." bella sighed as she intertwined her hands with his. "look, you don't have to go if you don't want to. i know you're tired from work and school."
"i'll be okay." johnny said as he placed a small kiss on bella's temple. "besides, mom's going, the guys are going, and your folks throw great parties."
"yeah, i get my wild side from them." bella laughed as she pressed her lips onto his. "i didn't know mom and dad invited laura."
"well, they're almost in-laws." johnny chuckled as he wrapped his arms around bella's waist.
"oh really?" bella giggled as she softly bit her lip. "you planning to put a ring on it, lawrence?"
"i'm hoping to." johnny smiled as he pressed his forehead against bella's as his hands ran up and down her waist. "well, i'm gonna take a quick shower."
"yeah, you do feel kinda sweaty." bella smirked as she softly placed her hands on his chest and playfully shoved him into the bathroom.

it was 20 minutes til' 11:00 and guests were still arriving to the north hollywood residence. bella sat at a table with her parents as the guests greeted and congratulated matt and lisa on their 25th anniversary, as well as greeted bella, commenting on how much she's grown and how beautiful she's gotten. some of her parent's friends attempted to set bella up with their sons, until they saw the tall blonde next to her.
after a while, bella excused herself from the table and walked inside her parents mansion. she walked upstairs, claiming she was going to the powder room, but instead went up to her old bedroom; only to find her boyfriend.
"hey." bella giggled as her boyfriend looked around her old bedroom and at all the photos on her wall. "i didn't think i'd find you here."
"i remember when you first brought me up here." johnny laughed as he looked at the wall covered in vogue magazine covers. "it was spring break–"
"it was also pouring and it was also our first time." bella smiled as she looked around her old bedroom, sighing as she found a small photo strip of her and johnny from a date at golf n' stuff back in high school. "my parents' friends are full of shit, y'know."
"yeah i know." johnny chuckled as he sat on bella's vanity stool. "whenever i was dragged to the country club, sid would try playing fucking cupid. he presented me to his business associates and their daughters as if i were a bachelor. the girls and their mothers would throw themselves at me.
"i hated going to the country club too." bella sighed as she sat on her window, looking down at the party outside. "i'm convinced these people still believe in arranged marriages. all the ladies attempting to set me up with their son all because of the money."
"i've never fit into this world." johnny sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. "i sometimes remember the times where it was just mom and i, living in a small apartment outside the city. after mom married sid, i was stuck in this world where all everyone cares about is money and making sure you marry into money. and when i met you, it was different. you didn't stick your nose up in the air just because you had money like half of these chicks."
"you know something?" bella said as she sat on the bed, next to the blonde. "these guys might have it all, but nobody's gonna make me as happy as you've made me."
bella smiled as she wrapped her arms around johnny's neck as he pressed his forehead against hers. "you have no idea how in love i am with you, monroe." johnny sighed as he held onto bella's waist.
the couple embraced for a moment as how deep is your love played outside and was heard inside the room. as bella walked back to the door, johnny pulled her back and back into his embrace as she giggled. "can i have this dance?" johnny smiled as he held bella close.
"johnny lawrence? dancing to a bee gees song?" bella teases as she wrapped her arms around his neck once more. "i thought disco sucked."
"i know how much you like this song." johnny smiled as he and bella swayed side to side to the soft rhythm of the song. "i love you."
"i love you too."
cause we're living in a world of fools breakin' us down when they all should let us be we belong to you and me.
