Babbit

Luke and Ashton take home a schools pet for the weekend.

"Alright students, it's time to see who gets to take home Babbit for the weekend!" Mrs. Parent clapped her hands to get her kindergarteners attention.

Luke screamed in excitement and ran to the front of the class as the teacher reached into a bowl full of paper that had the class's names on them.

"And the winner is..." She chose a piece and opened it up. "Richard!"

Luke dropped to his knees and wailed.

Ashton pouted when he saw his Lukey's misfortune. He walked up behind Richard and tapped his shoulder.

"Ya- oh! Ashy! You Ashy! Hi Ashy!" Richard gasped and blushed. "H-hi dere, how is Ash-"

Ashton cut him off and kissed the boys lips. Richard flailed his hands in excitement.

Ashton pulled back and smiled. "Hallo Richy. Could Richy pretty please do Ashy a favor?"

"Oh yes, any favor!" Richard gasped. "Richy do all the favors for Ashy!"

"Can Richy let Lukey take home Babbit? Lukey lobs Babbit." Ashton held Richard's hand and smiled.

"Will dat make Ashy happy?" Richard asked dreamily.

"Very berry." Ashton nodded.

"Den oki! Mrs.! Mrs., Richy wants Luke to have Babbit." Richard called.

"Oh, okay." She turned to Luke, who stopped throwing a tantrum on the carpet and sat up. "Lucas, would you like to take home Ba-"

"Yasyasyasyasyasyas!" Luke shouted, jumping up and down.

"Alright, I'll notify your parents. Come with me and I'll give you all the supplies you need for the weekend."

Luke followed her to the back room and she handed him two bowls, a bag of food, and some toys.

Luke put them in his cubby. Ashton walked up to him and hugged him. "Yay, Lukey got Babbit!"

Luke beamed. "Dunno why Richy do dat, but Lukey lobs Richy now!"

Ashton just smiled.

Luke sat very still in his car seat. The small cage sat on his lap and he tried hard not to wake up the sleeping bunny inside.

Ashton sat beside him as Liz drove them home. "Lukey ready for sleepover with Babbit?"

"A rabbit? Seriously?" Liz grumbled.

"Is not rabbit!" Luke glared. "Is Babbit!"

"Can Ashy feed Babbit a carrot?" Ashton asked, peeking under the blanket that covered the bunny's cage.

"Sure, Lukey will get water for Babby, Ashy get carrot, den we put Babby outside and play!" Luke cheered.

"No Luke," Liz said. "Do not put the rabbit outside. He'll get lost. And remember, Gwen is watching you this weekend."

Luke scowled. "Dislike Gwenny."

Ashton cocked his head. "Why?"

"Gwenny no pay 'tention to Luke." Luke explained. "Gwenny pay 'tention to Gwenny's phone."

"Gwenny is a big butt." Ashton declared and they giggled.

When they got home, Luke set the bunny's cage down in the living room and they sat around it.
