|Samantha|
My eyes widen in horror seeing my smirking father dragged by my cell and down another corridor. Solitary confinement. What has my father done to piss of the King now and what awaits for me when it is my turn? I didn't have much to think of the endless possibilities as I am the next one called out to be interviewed, well really interrogated.
I leave the cell willingly and follow willingly. I heard many whispering to me as I am guided to the room. Don't tell them anything, you are one of us, and don't be a rat. Yet, truly I didn't want this life anymore. I wanted to experience the pack life and have a loving mate.
It is just my luck my mate isn't a rogue, but is in fact the Prince that I was taught to hate my whole life.
I enter the room seeing King Maxwell and Prince Theo on one side of the table. The guard nudges me into the chair and attaches my cuffs to the table. I am not going to hurt them, in fact I want to help. I want to help and I want my mate back.
You see since I rejected Theo my wolf has disappeared and I can not longer feel her or our bond. It scares me, this is the price I am made to pay for rejecting my mate. Nothing more scares me than not having my wolf, as I feel like a human and not a werewolf.
"Samantha," Theo calls. "My father has asked you a question."
"I am sorry, can you please repeat," I ask.
"Very well. Can you please tell me why your group had camped out so close to our boarder," King Maxwell asks.
My eyes dart back and fourth between them, contemplating my answer.
Theo's hand rests on mine. "You are safe here, no one will know your answer if you chose to answer truthfully."
I swallow the lump in my throat. "I truly do not know, your majesty. I wasn't told anything just that we were moving. I never dared to question my father or the decision made by the higher ranking members in the group."
"I see, and who are the other higher ups? How does a rogue move up?"
"You see, our rankings are based on our previous pack status. Like a warrior would be a warrior rogue. A huntress or hunter would be the hunter for the group and so on. We just based our rankings on that."
"So your father?"
"Was friends with Desmond, therefore a member of his personal council."
"I see and you?"
"Me?"
"How do you feel about all of this?"
I have never been asked this question as we are not allowed to have our own opinions on Alpha Desmond, only that he was a great leader and the Queen was in the wrong. That is what I have taught and told since I was a pup. Since I could talk.
"I am not entitled to that luxury, your majesty. As rogues we have to stick together. We are taught and told the same beliefs and follow them."
"I see, but how do you feel about all of this? Being a rogue."
Just be honest, Sam. Maybe you'll get your wolf back if you do so.
I bite my lip and look at Theo who looks worried. "Everything I tell you is private, right?"
Theo nods. "Go on."
"I don't like being a rogue. I want to live in a stable home and think for myself. Get a proper education and live a normal life. I hate being moved place to place and listening to my father's propaganda," I blurt out.
"I see, and was he the reason I can no longer sense your wolf?"
He knows.
I shrug. "For the most part, no, but yes. He has drilled it into my head what horrible people the royal family is and that lead me to reject you. My wolf disappeared during the night sometime last night while I was asleep."
The king sighs. "Well, we obviously can't keep her in the cells now, especially after everything she told us and will tell us. The rogue group may harm her if they find out what was discussed."
Theo nods in agreement. "Shall I tell the maids to set up a room then? She proves herself useful with the knowledge she holds for this group. It is obvious she doesn't feel safe telling us here."
"I agree and in time when you are comfortable with us maybe you can answer some of our more advance questions about this group. Until then you will be staying in a room on the main level of the palace. I believe you have knowledge of this group that may be vital that you don't even realize."
This is true, I may not see it myself as useful but any little bit of information of this crazy group can help. Any little bit be proven to fatal to them and help them. Maybe it'll be helpful to me as well since my wolf is gone. Maybe if she sees I am getting closer to Theo she'll come back and see I am trying to make an effort with him.
