In that moment I felt sparks when we touched. I felt a thread of a bond. I felt the smallest hint that her wolf was there and trying to reach us. Trying to wake up. Trying to contact us, but she couldn't gain enough energy to do so.

"Trinity," Dax calls out.

Yet by the time we realized what was happening she was already gone. Most likely passed out from the amount of energy she used to even wake up and contact us.

Defeated, he retreats to the back of my mind and falls asleep.

My theory is somewhat working, but I can't be sure until she is marked and mated. Yet, she wants to keep this low key so we don't ascend the thrones right away. In which I completely agree with, because I'm not ready to be King. I am terrified of ruling a whole kingdom and pack. What if they don't accept me? I'm more worried about how they'll react to Samantha. How pack wolves and rogues will react. I don't need an uprising on my hands and I don't need her safety at risk. Which I can sadly see happening if we rush into this because of the rogue group she came from. Her father seemed like the leader of the group. A rogue Alpha if you would. Which is a dangerous.

It also doesn't help with the mindset her father has. He influenced Samantha to believe that and she is slowly moving away from those lies. She is seeing that my family is evil and what my mom did was for the safety and well being of the community. Yet, Desmond's followers still believe he should be alive and be King.

I am worried about our coronations and how that will play out. If there will be a riot, protests, or a full scale attack. One would hope neither would happen, but we are public figures therefore we are not exempt from criticism. It should be expected for someone in my position of power.

Lately though, that mind set has been spreading. It is no longer contained in that one pack. It's spreading like a virus. Thanks to media it spreads faster and reaches more people than before.

I was up before the crack of dawn. My mind was racing to fast for me to fall back to sleep. It kept wondering off and making fake scenarios up. Intrusive thoughts clouding my mind. Yet, I forced them down and started my day.

"Your highness," a maid stops me as I step out.

"Yes," I respond.

With a quick bow she continues, "your father, the King is waiting for you in the retrieving room."

I sigh and thank the maid. I was not expecting him today or for the next month. I guess he was doing a surprise visit to catch us off guard.

Father sits with his ankle crossed on his knee as he scrolls through his phone. He glances up and we acknowledge one another with a head nod.

"Father," I greet. "I was not expecting you."

"That is what I was aiming for," father remarks.

I couldn't help my eye roll when I looked at my smirking father. So proud that his plan worked.

"Please follow me to my office."

While I spent much time in this study with my father, right now it felt different. Everything Samantha and I have accomplished these few months made everything feel different. This may have been the study I grew up and learned how to be a King, yet it wasn't. It has changed since I have occupied it.

The whole mansion felt different since Samantha has occupied it, it felt like home.

Heading up the curving stairs, she watches with weary eyes from the safety of her bedroom door frame.

"I am okay," I mouth to her and she quickly retreats back in.

We sit before the fireplace in the large chairs, no one behind the desk. Neither of us are in a position of power right now, just father and son having a conversation.

"How is mother," I ask.

"Fine," he responds.

"And Rose?"

"Fine."

Truly sometimes I do not know how to speak to my father. He isn't the easy to talk to. While neither of us are playing the power card, it feels like he is wearing his crown right now.

Getting tired of the mystery I ask, "why have you come to visit us, with no warning might I add."

"I came to check in on you and your mate, has her wolf returned?"

My only choice is to lie and protect her. Court will not be kind to her.

"No, father."

He sighs. "Hopefully she returns soon. The people will not like a rogue with no wolf as their Queen. There will be uprising and demands for to pick a mate."

"She will return, father, I guaranteed you."

We both know she is on the verge of returning, she just needs that little push to return. She sees we are accepting of one another, but not completely trusting those feelings just yet. I have a feeling she will make small appearances, but won't stay until she is marked. Until it is a guarantee we will remain together. She no longer trusts Samantha and I cannot blame her. Her vessel is very unpredictable.

"Well, that is somewhat assuring, but I will not believe it until I see it."

"Which is completely understandable."

"Where is she? Why didn't she join us?"

Because she still fears him.

"Didn't want to invade my privacy? Do you want me to call for her?"

He shakes his head. "No, all is fine. I was just about to leave. There is a banquette tonight if you want to attend. No pressure, but I am sure our subjects would love to see you again."

"Of course, I will see what Samantha wants to do."

"Good bye, son. I hope to see you tonight, your mother and sister miss you so."

And there it is. The jab, the guilt.

I see my father out and wish him farewell and safe travels. I shut the door and sit down against it. Goddess, this is ridiculous. Insufferable at that.

Truly I might not even tell Samantha about the party, I don't want to go as it is. Let alone have my mate endure the cruelty of jealous females. I am torn. At a cross roads. One I want to see my mother and sister again, but I want to protect my mate. So this discussion will truly be left up to her.
