Lizzie's pov
"What do you think Hope and your dad were arguing about?" Jed asked as we sat on one of the couches in the great room.
"I don't know," I replied, lost in thought. Josie and Kaleb were studying, no one had seen Landon since he went after Hope, and I hadn't seen MG since this morning, so it was just Jed and I sitting here.
"Have you seen Lan? I meant to ask him about something to do with our math class," Jed asked and I shrugged.
"No, he went after Hope in fifth period and I haven't seen him since. We might see him around later tonight."
"What time is it anyway?"
I checked my phone, "6:37,"
"Thank God, I'm starving," Jed replied and I smiled a little at his enthusiasm, dinner's always at 6:45 here. That was when an uncomfortable knot began twisting in my stomach; MG would be at dinner, the whole Super Squad always sit at a specific table, we have for a whole year and a half.
"Hey, Lizzie?" I heard an all too familiar voice and I swung my head around to see MG standing by the other end of the couch.
"Hey," I said quietly, not really knowing what terms we were on.
"Can I talk to you?" he asked and the knot in my stomach tightened.
"Uh-sure," I answered.
"Yeah, I'm gonna go," Jed sighed and stood up, "There's clearly something happening here that I don't know about and it seems kind of awkward so..." He excused himself and headed towards the dining hall.
"What's up?" I asked as he sat on the other end of the couch where Jed had just been and gave me a look that seemed to say, 'you know what's up'.
"I wanted to talk about this morning," he tried but I stopped him.
"I actually wanted to thank you for texting me about Hope earlier," I desperately wanted to talk about something else, anything else but it didn't look like it was going to work.
"Lizzie," he sighed, "we should talk about what happened,"
Just then the bell rang for dinner I practically jumped up from my seat, "Later MG, we'll talk later. But right now I have to go,"
"O-Okay..." he replied and I grabbed my things and shot out of the room as fast as I could.
Hope's pov
I asked Rebekah if she and Marcel wanted to have dinner with us but she said there was no way she was going to sit there and drink bunny blood so they went off campus, probably to find some unsuspecting human to feed on in town – I've learned not to ask. Instead, I walked into the dining hall alone, whispers about me running out of Rick's office starting up the second I walked through the doors; I could hear what they were saying, I could always hear. I grabbed some food and walked hurriedly through the rows of tables until I reached ours, sitting down between Kaleb and Lizzie - Landon wasn't here yet, he must still be talking to Seylah. There was a certain quietness to the table tonight – it wasn't everywhere; Jed, Kaleb and Josie were all talking about this movie they wanted to watch over the weekend but Lizzie and MG were almost silent, just staring at their plates. Well, Lizzie was at least, MG was drinking his dinner out of a glass.
"You okay?" they all asked when I sat down and I just nodded.
"Have any of you seen Landon?" I asked instead but they all shook their heads.
"I thought he was with you," Josie replied.
"Yeah, he was an hour ago, but I haven't seen him since,"
