Josie's pov

"Are you coming home soon Mum?" I asked.

Lizzie and I were sitting on my bed in our dorm calling our Mum on Lizzie's laptop.

"Maybe Babies, I'll try. I promise." she replied and we sighed.

"But Mum you always try, can't you just hop on a private jet and fly home?" Lizzie whined, although she had a point. It's not like Mum worked anywhere that wouldn't let her come home for a few weeks, she works at the school, just from France.

"Lizzie, you know that the reason I'm here is to find a way to help you girls," our mum explained.

"And we appreciate that Mum but you're never home. Can't you just take some time off, we won't even know if we have to do the merge again until we're twenty-two." I know I shouldn't be complaining and I don't mean to sound ungrateful but I just want my Mum back home for a little while.

"Girls I get that you want me to take some time off but if I take time off thinking that you might not have to do it again then what happens when you turn twenty-two and we find out that you do still have to do it - we'll have no solution."

"We don't know that that'll happen!" Lizzie argued.

"We don't know it won't." Mum said, sharper this time and Lizzie and I fell silent. "Look girls, I'm sorry, but I just can't take that chance, I love you too much." she apologized - I looked into her eyes after she said it, she meant it. She was just worried about us.

"We love you too," Lizzie whispered, looking back up at her.

"Sorry Mum," I added.

Someone knocked on Mum's hotel door in the background and she sighed.

"Look girls, I have to go. I love you Babies." she said, blowing a kiss and waving at us.

"Bye Mum, can we call you back tomorrow?" Lizzie asked.

"Um, I don't know. I'll text you if I have time."

I sighed again quietly, slightly disappointed. "Okay, love you too Mum,"

"Love you," Lizzie added before our mother hung up.

Lizzie fell back so that she was lying on my bed and I looked at her.

"You know she tries to visit," I said to her.

"Yeah, but tries and does are two different things."

I lay down and cuddled into her.

"I just miss her, that's all." Lizzie sighed, I knew she did.

"I do too."

"I kissed MG," she whispered randomly, but loud enough for me to hear.

"What!?" I asked, sitting up.

Lizzie sat up too. "This morning, before class,"

"What did he do?" I asked, I needed context.

"He kissed me back."

"Yeah, obviously. He's been in love with you forever, I mean after."

"He's not in love with me, he just likes me." Lizzie said quietly. I didn't reply to that, but MG definitely more than just likes her, you don't chase after somebody for years if you just like them.

Instead I just said, "Just don't play with his feelings too much, he's our friend."

"I won't" she defended, but I wasn't completely convinced. I love my sister but sometimes she toys with people without even meaning to or realizing it.

There was a knock on the door and Lizzie yelled for whoever it was to come in, closing her laptop.

"Hey," Hope said, walking into the room.

"Hey," Lizzie and I both replied, smiling at her.

"Yeah, we're here too." Kaleb said as he, Jed and Landon all walked in too - MG wasn't there.

"And us," Two adults walked in, a blonde woman and an african-american man.

"Rebekah and Marcel?" I said slowly, it was more of a question than a greeting.

"Yeah," Marcel said.

"Lizzie," my sister said with a smile from where she was still sitting on my bed.

"I'm Josie," I clarified, giving them a small wave.

"Caroline's daughters, right?" Rebekah Mikaelson asked and we nodded.

"Yeah, we just got off call with her actually. By the way, I love your jacket, where'd you get it?" Lizzie asked, admiring Hope's aunt's long black coat.

"Thank you," she replied, smiling. "It's actually really old, it was a birthday gift from Nik in the early twentieth century." That confused me. Wasn't Nick like, one and a half?

"Isn't Nick your nephew?" I asked and Marcel laughed quietly and shook his head.

"Yes, Nick is our nephew but he's named after Klaus, who Rebekah here always called Nik. She was meaning Klaus. It can be confusing sometimes." Hope's brother explained.

I nodded. The bells for last period rang in the hall.

"Anyway, you guys should get to class." Hope said. "I might come later but for right now we should probably go tell your dad that they're here before someone else does,"

"Too late," I heard someone say and I turned to see my father in the doorway, he looked angry. "Get to class," he growled at us and then turned to Hope. "You three, my office, now!"

Lizzie gave Hope a sulky look and then her, Kaleb, Jed and I started walking out the door.

"Rick, please don't overreact," I heard Landon say before my dad spoke again.

"Class, now." I saw Hope give him a nod - giving him the okay to leave before he walked out behind us, clearly annoyed at my dad.

"He'll get over it," I said to Landon. "They're two of the most powerful beings in the world anyway - he can't really do much to scare them away."

Landon nodded - still a little pissed off - and we all began walking down the main staircase before splitting off into different class corridors to go to different subjects.

I didn't really want to go to class. I wanted to talk to Lizzie more about MG.

Maybe later.
