The ride to Greenwood was mainly uneventful. Calavanya had managed to befriend a female warrior, Merilwen. It seemed too sweet a name for a Woodland soldier, though Calavanya could see it suited her. When she was not in combat, she was perfectly agreeable and rather sweet. She would often help Calavanya with Tauriel, and she was grateful.

Around a few days out from Greenwood, Merilwen and Calavanya were talking as they usually did. Somehow, they had landed on the topic of romance.

"Is there any ellon back in your home waiting for your arrival?" Calavanya asked, a teasing smile on her face.

"N-no. No, I'm afraid not." A blush rose on Merilwen's cheeks, and she moved some of her auburn hair in front of her face to cover it. But, Calavanya caught the glance she sent towards another guard. A captain, to be specific.

"What's his name?" Calavanya's smile grew wider, and eventually Merilwen wore a small, shy smile.

"Feredir." A moment of silence passed before Merilwen asked the same question to Calavanya. "What about you? Is there a special ellon for you?" Calavanya's smile faltered, which didn't go unnoticed by Merilwen. She quickly tried to salvage the situation by saying, "I'm sorry, it's really none of my business-," but Calavanya cut her off.

"No, no it's fine. There was someone once. Or so I thought." Calavanya focused on the path ahead, turning her gaze away from Merilwen.

"I'm sorry," Merilwen said, sending her friend a sorrowful glance.

"It's fine, I have moved on." Deciding Merilwen deserved a proper explanation, she continued, "He was only using me for his personal benefit. I was high ranking in Imladris, an advisor to Lord Elrond along with being Head Healer. He only wanted to marry me so he could move up in society. I foolishly fell for his tricks, and we were actually engaged to be married. But when I found out his true intentions, I broke off the engagement."

"What happened to him?" Merilwen couldn't help her curiosity. After all, it seemed Calavanya was in the mood to divulge information, so it seemed like the best time to ask.

"He left Imladris and I haven't heard from him since." The conversation ended after that, the ellith occasionally talking to Tauriel whenever she got restless.

Night was fast approaching, so the elves stopped to make camp. They went nonstop for a few days at a time, since elves don't need much sleep, but now it was time for a rest. It was also time for Calavanya to check on King Thranduil's wound. They had ditched the bandages a few days prior, seeing as it was mostly healed. Plus, it allowed him a greater range of motion.

After dinner, Calavanya and Merilwen were playing with Tauriel next to a campfire, tiring her out before it was her bedtime. She cooed happily, obviously enjoying the extra attention.
