In a big two-story house in a rural neighborhood of San Francisco, Nick was now lying down on his bed, which was upstairs in his bedroom, relaxing and watching tv. It was a nice Sunday night. The sun had already set and Nick was alone in his room watching whatever was on. He was channel-surfing mainly between Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, NickToons, Disney Channel, Disney XD, comedy Central and Fox. These channels were usually the only ones that Nick ever watched. This was because they all had cartoons and Nick loved cartoons! He even enjoyed the more mature and inappropriate ones like The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, South Park and Bob's Burgers. Of course, Nick would watch other things, too, like the news, the Marvel superhero movies, wrestling, Jurassic Park, Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday The 13th, the live-action Batman movies and occasionally the R.L. Stine's Goosebumps TV series.

The thing about cartoons that he liked the most was that in cartoons, anything could happen and they all were so fun and interesting in their own ways. Nick saw watching cartoons and using his own imagination most of the time as a way to take his mind off all the challenges and problems that he faced and to keep himself from letting all the stress and anxiety get to him.

Nick wanted to stay up late, but he had epilepsy and risked having seizures if he tried to stay up any later than 10:00PM. Plus, tomorrow was Monday and he would be going back to work again and he would need as much energy as he could get. Not to mention, after 7:30PM, Nick couldn't make too much noise in his room or he might wake up his little brother and little sister and he didn't want to get in trouble with his mom and stepdad again after having already been warned twice to be quiet or risk his stepdad taking his computer and TV away as punishment.

Eventually, at 9:20PM, Nick called it a night, turned off his TV and any other lights that were in his room with the exception of his nightlight. Apparently, Nick was slightly afraid of being alone in the dark to the point that he thought that there were monsters running around and he would always hide under his covers.
