CHAPTER TWELVE

Three days have passed since Augustus began instructing me in archery. Since then, we've been having our session, and he told me I was getting better.

I previously got a letter from Adelaide in which she expressed her struggle to feel comfortable at the royal palace on her first day, but it appears that she was positive regarding the upbeat tone of her message. I believe that her career is starting well.

I am currently having an archery session again with Augustus today.

I tried to hit the center and I managed to hit it few times. We then upgraded our session, Augustus place few fruits on many places and instructed me to hit them.

And I managed to hit them all. I heard Augustus clapped his hands. "You did so well!"

I smiled at him, "Thank you,"

I then saw Veronica walking towards our direction, and she stated, "My lady, your brother wants to talk to you."

"Why?" I asked

"He didn't say, lady Eloise,"

"Where is he? Please tell him to come here, I am currently still in my archery lesson."

"Yes, lady Eloise," she bowed her head and walked away.

I drop the bow down and wipe my sweat off.

"I must head out now, lady Eloise, I'll see you again tomorrow, same time." He stated and I smiled at him and nod before he walked away.

A few moments later, Elliote walked towards me

"Eloise," he called my name

I glanced at him, "What do you want to avoid, brother?"

"Tomorrow evening is the royal prince's birthday, and there will be a celebration." He stated

"And?"

"Father wants us to wear something exquisite to the banquet since the emperor invited us all,"

"Oh, I see." I stated, "But... are you sure I'm invited though?"

"I just said all of us, didn't I?" He said sarcastically

I rolled my eyes, "I don't think I can go."

"Why? You have to go, father won't be happy if you dared to decline the emperor's invitation." He stated, "It'll tarnish his reputation."

"I have to figure out who tried to poison me few weeks ago." I stated, "I have the cup and have it examined, I just need to figure out who put the cyanide."

"Oh, I thought you let that situation slide already."

I looked at him, "Of course not, I decided I should punish the person, with valid reason this time. Someone attempted to poison me and shall face the consequences." I explained, "I'm heading to the city in a few days to get the result."

"I see, do you have any idea who that someone is?"

"I had someone in mind,"

"Who?"

"I can't say it for now. I don't have the crucial proof yet so I don't want to false point finger." I stated

"I see,"

"Is that it?"

"I suppose it is."

"I'll think about going to the prince's birthday," I stated and walked away, "Gotta go."

After walking around, I finally reached my room. I went directly to the bath and let the servants scrhb every dirt off my body.

I decided I will skip dinner and sleep early, so after my bath I change into my night gown and quickly rest on my bed.

Now it got me thinking, how long must I wait before encountering Thalia? What will happen if I run into her?

Augustus, Raiden, and Theodore are the characters I encounter throughout the narrative so far.

The heir to the throne and the half-blood creature are the remaining two I haven't met yet, which is also one of the male leads.

I keep thinking about the time that I felt like someone stabbed me. What kind of presence was that?

I am unable to fall asleep because of thinking these things.

But I know I can alter my fate, and I refuse to met the same end like I did before. I refuse to die in humiliation, pity, and as a disgrace.
