luke had known about michael's trip to see his parents for a few weeks now. he cried at first, knowing that michael would be leaving for a pretty long period of time, and he couldn't go with michael because of work. however, over a few days, he came to terms with it. he even agreed to go with michael while he got on the train to make sure he got there safely. michael knew this was a horrible idea, and that luke was going to break down. but luke insisted.

the weeks went by and soon michael was running around grabbing last things in their apartment that he might need for the trip. luke watched with a forced smile on his face. he really didn't want michael to go, but he knew that michael needed to go and see his parents. he hadn't seen them in nearly a year and michael was starting to get really homesick. so it wasn't that luke didn't want him to feel better, he really did. it was more that luke wished he could at least go with him. he didn't want to be alone for three weeks.

'can you start the car? we have to leave in,' he looked down at his watch and groaned, 'well, five minutes ago.' luke nodded and grabbed the keys, running out and sitting in the front as he waited a moment. he watched michael coming out with a few of his bags, giving luke a confused and slightly annoyed look. luke quickly put the key in the car and turned it, hearing the soft rumble of the car starting. he unlocked the car and pressed a button that made the trunk open. michael quickly placed his bags in the car, the car bouncing from the sudden weight.

michael ran up to the front door to lock it before going back to the car and getting in the passenger side, smiling lightly at luke, who seemed zoned out.

'lu? we gotta go.' luke nodded and put the car in reverse as he pulled out of their driveway, turning right onto the road. the train station was about ten minutes from their house. luke played music loudly and sang with michael, making sure to hold michael's hand tightly, knowing it would be three weeks until he got to again. michael seemed to sense the sadness that the blond held, but didn't comment. he didn't want to see luke cry again.

they got to the station, quickly parking as luke helped michael grab his backpack and duffel bags. michael wanted to carry them himself, but luke wouldn't let him. he figured that he would make it just a little easier for him.

'now, you're going to remember to eat good, right? and please, if you are ever feeling down, just call me. i'll stop everything to talk to you. okay?' luke smiled sadly and nodded, hearing the loud train whistle a bit in the distance. he wasn't too sad right now; the train was still a little while away.

'make sure that when you're not working you leave the room. you have a tendency to forget what time is sometimes. again, call me if anything.' michael sighed as he noticed luke's eyes getting watery, he knew this was going to happen. he noticed luke staring at something. he followed his gaze and noticed that the red signal was flashing, and he could clearly see the train coming and starting to slow down a little, it's loud whistle sounding.

'i will, i love you michael. have so much fun with mum and dad!' luke tried to show excitement as he hugged michael tightly, not really wanting to let go of him. michael kissed his cheek as the train screeched loudly to a stop, one of the entrances stopping almost right in front of the pair. luke felt his lip starting to wobble and he ignored it at first, but the second michael was grabbing his bags from luke's arms they were falling quickly.

'lu, please don't cry. call me every single morning, and i know i don't even need to tell you that. you'll do it regardless.' luke let out a little laugh as he sniffled and wiped his eyes. he felt like a child. 'it's going to be so quick, and i know some nights and days will be hard, but i'll be back. it's not forever.' luke nodded, letting michael crush him with a tight hug.

the train whistled once more, signalling that it was close to last boarding. michael smiled softly at luke and kissed him once again, lingering for a moment.

'i'll miss you.'

'i'll miss you more.'

michael grabbed his things and boarded the train, making sure he sat where he could still see luke. he situated himself before looking out the window and seeing luke smiling a bit brighter than he had in weeks. michael knew what was about to happen now.

the train started moving slowly. michael lifted his hand and waved at luke, who looked like he was about to slowly crumble. michael wanted to cry at how sad luke looked, but the train was moving.

'i love you.' michael mouthed. he noticed that luke was starting to walk after the train, and his heart ached for the younger boy. he really wished he could've came too.

the train picked up speed and eventually luke couldn't keep up. his eyes watered and he slowly walked back to the car, leaning his head on the steering wheel. he already missed michael so much, and he wanted to be on that train with him.
