[just a short one because i haven't written a oneshot in a while :/]

'i can't just go up to him. what if he actually says yes.' calum watched as michael bit at the skin on his finger. he swears that he's never seen him this nervous about something before. he was always getting himself in trouble and testing the waters with all of his teachers; asking a boy out, especially one that was a whole grade lower than him, should not be making him this nervous.

'that's what you want, you twat. go get him.' michael was shoved into luke's general direction, alerting the younger boy of his presence. luke's eyes widen significantly as he backed away slightly, unsure of what was about to happen.

'uh, hi!' michael squeaked, his voice slightly higher as anxiety ate away at him. he knew his cheeks were colored and he felt hot. but luke was right there and there was no backing out.

'hi? do you need something, michael?' luke asked, trying hard not to seem scared, but this situation was freaking him out. he didn't ever talk with the older boy, but he knew him from a painting class they took when luke was a freshman and michael was a sophomore.

'oh, uh, i...' michael paled as he tried to figure out his wording, trying not to sound stupid but ironically doing just that. luke smiled lightly as he started to understand what was happening, especially since he saw michael's friend calum laughing his ass off just a few feet away.

'i heard they are reopening that arcade at the mall, i saw you there a couple of times before they closed.' michael gulped and nodded, unsure of what was happening now. 'maybe you'd like to check it out sometime?'

'that'd be great actually, they open next tuesday, i can pick you up and get food before we go?' he asked, quickly adding 'if you want.' michael was blushing and smiling and kind of being a hot mess, but luke found it endearing.

'sounds good, here.' luke dug through his bag and pulled out a marker, turning over michael's hand. he scribbled out his number on the back of michael's hand.

'i'd have you put it in your phone, but i'm already late. text me.' luke smiled before closing his locker and walking away.

michael looked at his hand and sighed in content, forgetting that his friend was standing just a few feet away.

'well, if he wasn't able to hold a conversation, that would have been horrible.' a quick punch collided with calum's shoulder before the two boys walked to class, fashionably late, talking about michael's date later next week.
