'lukey, calm down. please. explain what's going on.' calum tried to get the boy to calm down, though they were only talking on the phone. luke had called him in the middle of the night, crying and feeling like he was going to explode.

'i-i woke up and-and i couldn't i- cally i just want a hug.' luke cried, gripping his phone tightly as he heard calum let out a sigh.

'where's michael?' calum asked, feeling really bad for not being able to be there for him. he knew he and michael had been dating for a few months now, but he was unsure as to why luke was calling him at two in the morning.

'he-he's in the other room. he's sleeping. i-i didn't want to wake him.' luke had reduced to a whisper, knowing what calum was going to say.

'well, calm yourself down a bit and go wake him up. he's your boyfriend and he's going to help you. i can't be there to give you a big hug, lukey.' calum heard luke's heartbroken sob before the phone hung up, hoping luke would take his advice.

luke had changed into a sweater and high socks, his cries being reduced to sniffles. he felt like he really didn't need michael anymore.

'baby, are you okay?' luke's head slowly looked up and watched as michael got off the phone with who luke could only believe was calum.

'y-yea. was that cal?' michael nodded and walked over, sitting down on the edge of the bed.

'why didn't you wake me, babydoll. i'm here for you' and this was just enough for luke to breakdown, his tears falling hot and fast.

'woah, bubba, shh' michael said, holding luke in his arms. luke grabbed onto him, not wanting to smell, hear, see, or feel anything but michael.

luke moved his ear to michael's chest to help him focus on something, feeling the exhaustion finally hitting him. michael played with his hair, whispering little things to him.

'just breathe, bub. i love you' and luke let his eyes slip shut, feeling safe.
