It's been a week since the last time bokuto and I spoke. I've come up to the surface every day, but he never shows. No note, no sign, nothing. I'm worried about him, but also scared. What if he forgot about me?
I sign, and start to head back for the day, when I hear a thump, and look behind me, to see bokuto-san. But he's not looking too good. I swim over, forgetting about my past worries. "Bokuto-san?! What happened?" I ask him as he sits down with a groan. His left arm is bandaged, and his wings are slightly tattered. His tail had a bad gash, and the tip was cut of completely.
"Raiders and dragon hunters."
"Huh?" I tilt my head in confusion.
"Us dragons, we collect hoards of gold, diamonds, magical items, anything we deem valuable that we can get our grip on. Raiders want to steal that from us, so we're very protective. And dragon hunters like to kill us."
"But I thought you guys were immortal?"
"Technically yes. We cant die from disease, poison unless specially designed, and natural disasters, especially for our elements. But we can still die. We can be killed by humans, or if we're in an opposing element for long. Like for me, I'd die if I was in water for too long because I'm fire based dragon. My friend Oikawa would die if he was in someplace hot for too long. We have middle ground where we can hang out together."
"I'm guessing he's an ice dragon?"
"Yeah."
"Anyways, that's how we can die. And the bravest and stupidest humans like to hunt us. When they kill us, they loot our dead bodies. They take everything. They make our scales into armour, our teeth and bones into weapons. They even take our flesh and eat it." He gagged slightly at that. "I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"I wasent here for a week. I must have made you sad."
"No no, it's okay. I was a little bit, but you're still hurt. You need rest more than anything."
"Yeah." He looked off into the sunset, and moved closer to the end. "Hey akaashi, can I try something?"
"Hmm? What is it?"
"Just face me, and close your eyes." I raise an eyebrow but do so. After a minute, I feel something soft and warm pressed to my lips. I open my eyes in suprise and see bokuto-san up in my face, his lips on mine in a tender kiss. I hesitate slightly, before I kiss back. His skin is warm, and the heat hits my skin like the sun on a summer day. I love every second of it, but sadly, we have to pull away.
"I-"
"I'm sorry. I know I should have asked or something but-"
"I liked that." He made eye contact with me.
"Really?"
"Really." I pull him on for one more before I break away. "I've got to get going. I'll be back in a few weeks. Only come if your more healed, okay?" He nodded.
"Good night bokuto-san."
"Good night keiji!" I smile to myself as I dive back under the water, and back to my home. I bring my fingers to my lips, and sigh contently. I already want more. Gosh, am I that greedy? Or is this just what it's like to be in love?
