He checked the time, 10:00. it's 'be normal' time again. The time was earlier on different days, and he also took a different route. What else do I do? "Um" the two looked at him and he shuffled his feet a little. "10:00 to noon I have to go outside and 'be normal' as mother says..." he mumbled, rubbing the back of his head. Gon blinked, "how?" he glanced towards the door. "go and do whatever, usually I go skating" Gon's eyes brightened, "I always wanted to try skating!" he blinked. "ok" he grabbed Killua's hand and started to drag him up the stairs. Killua didn't know what to do, so he just followed. When they got to his room Gon grabbed his skateboard and handed it to him. "I don't have a board though.." he said sadly. Killua walked over to his bag and grabbed his wallet. "wait" he slipped out about two hundred dollars and turned offering it to him. "this enough?" Gon's eyes shot wide. "w- h- Aunt mito come up here!" wait what?
He heard footsteps and aunt mito peeked into the room. "need something?" Gon pointed to his hand. "Killua just pulled like, two hundred dollars out of his bag!" her eyes widened as well. "w-well you wanted a skateboard..." he mumbled, feeling unsure of himself. Did I do something wrong? Gon took the money. "where'd you get that much money?" aunt mito asked. He blinked, "mother gave me some pocket change before... um..." he shuffled his feet a little, then opened his wallet. "holy crap- how much do you have in that thing?" Gon asked. He blinked, "uhh, 10 grand ish?" he had been saving over the years, also pickpocketing. And he usually just picked up stuff that's lying on the ground and sometimes sold them. Gon's eyes started gleaming. "are you, rich?" he rubbed the back of his head. "uhhh, b-back when... mh..." he wanted to talk but he didn't really feel comfortable talking about it. But... their so nice. He tried to make himself speak again but it just wouldn't come. "nh" He trailed off and closed his wallet up, then covered his face. Stop staring at me...
Gon blinked for a few seconds, "whatever, soo..." he reached over and ruffled his hair, which made him feel better. "how about we go buy that skateboard?" he nodded, then handed Gon the cash. He smiled, and Killua found himself smiling back. It was small but genuine, honestly it was more of a half smile. Him smiling at me like that... makes me want to smile too. Gon grabbed his wallet and slipped the money back in, beaming as he put it in his pocket. "alright! Let's go!" he grabbed Gon's hand, he always did that when he led him somewhere. Gon paused for a second, then grabbed Killua's skateboard. "have fun you two" aunt mito said. Gon giggled, "c'mon!" and he felt himself be tugged away again. He's so energetic. How does he have so much energy? Next thing he knew Gon was leading him out the door and onto the street. Where are we going? He tried to keep up with Gon but he was just too fast. His legs ached and his breath came short and fast. Killua hadn't run in so long, he glided by on his skateboard. "G-Gon" Gon glanced over at him, "hm?" he started to slow down and Gon did as well, looking at him with curiosity. "need something?"
He stopped, panting. "I-I'm sorry" he blinked. "for what?" Killua bit his lip. "I-I'm not used to running that much... y-your..." he looked away. "I can't keep up" he mumbled. Will Gon be mad? He covered his face nervously, peeking out between his fingers at Gon. He was still smiling, this time though he didn't have the board in his hands. "just follow me ok?" he's not mad. Why did I think he would be? Killua stepped on his skateboard and nodded, then Gon started off without looking behind him. He kicked off and followed close behind him, it actually felt kind of nice. It took about six minutes but eventually made it to a store that he'd never been to before. He was yanked inside by Gon before he could read the sign, quickly grabbing his skateboard and looking around with wide eyes. All sorts of DIY stuff... his mind started whirring at all the possibilities. "hey Gon, do they do customs here?" Gon glanced back at him, "I think so" his eyes gleamed. I have the perfect idea!
Killua grabbed a piece of paper and started sketching, he had sketched out outfits and makeup ideas before so he was pretty good at it. "what are you doing?" he ignored Gon for a moment, scribbling it down. When he was done, he had a sketch of a skateboard that looked much like his own. Instead it was orange and green, and it looked pretty good if he did say so himself. He showed it to Gon and his eyes lit up, "woah! That looks awesome!" he glanced around for the person who did customs for a few moments, he was very easy to pick out though because there was a big ass sign. Gon dragged him over after he pointed it out, the person who was manning it had long brown hair and amber eyes. "welcome kids! You guys come for some shiny new boards?" Gon beamed, "we did! Killua made a super cool drawing of what he wants, show him the picture" he said the last part to him and he suddenly felt nervous. I don't like the attention...
Killua gave Gon the picture and shifted his board so it was vertically in front of his face, arrow side out. He peeked to the side a little to watch. Gon glanced at him, then gave the man a smile. "sorry, he's kind of shy. Here!" he handed the photo over and the man inspected it. "the hell is this?" he flinched. Is it bad? And then suddenly he beamed. "you said that kid made it?" the man pointed at him and he took a step back, hands clenching on the skateboard slightly. "he did! It only took a few minutes as well" why's he pointing at me? What did I do? The man chuckled, "this is amazing!" he paused. Wait... really? At first he thought that they guy was mad, but he was smiling and he said his drawing was good. He turned his eyes to him and Killua felt his confidence wavering. Looks can be deceiving. "how old are you kid?" Killua glanced nervously at Gon, who put a hand on his shoulder and answered for him. "15" he saw the man's eyes shimmer. "such a young talented artist, how would you feel about making designs for Sheli's Skate Shenor?"
Killua blinked for a few seconds. He wants me to design other skateboards for him? a-am I really that good? He moved his skateboard a little bit more so the guy could see his face. "I-I um... guess?" he looked over at Gon for reassurance, and he felt a little more confident at his encouraging expression. "great!" Killua flinched slightly, he was loud. One of the things that he had grown to notice, is that he didn't like loud noises. "so, what size and wheels do you want?" Gon glanced at him, "no clue, you're the one who made it" he bit his lip. I don't know the exact measurements, but I want it to be the size of mine. He lowered his skateboard and held it out. "s-same ones p-please" he mumbled. The man grinned and took out a measuring tape, then quickly recorded the numbers into some notepad. "great! Tha-" suddenly there was a loud bang and he gasped, his grip slipped and his skateboard clattered to the ground as Killua started shaking slightly.
He felt tears sting his eyes as well, taking a step back. Where'd it come from, need to hide, mother- Killua felt arms wrap around him and was broken from his panic stricken state. "hey, it's ok" he glanced over at Gon's face and his body stopped shaking. He's right, I'm safe. Mother isn't here, everything is fine. Killua's mind gradually eased out of his fear, his body leaning heavily on Gon's. he closed his eyes for a moment, just breathing. After a few seconds he heard Gon's voice. "you good now?" Killua's eyes reopened and he nodded a little. "y-yeah... sorry" Gon gave him a smile, "there's nothing to be sorry about-" he heard someone clear his throat and looked up to see that the guy who was at the custom's area was looking at them with a worried expression. "are you ok?" he turned and hid his face in Gon's jacket, he didn't know what to say to that. Gon sighed, "he's fine, loud noises scare him though. How much will that be?"
He heard a sigh, "not gonna lie, it's pretty expensive. We don't have models or sizes that look like that, we'd have to get shipment and stuff" Killua peeked out, then grabbed his wallet from his pocket. "I'll pay" he mumbled. The guy rubbed the back of his head. "well, it's fifty bucks plus the extra twenty for compensations, it's ok if you can't aff-" he slipped out a solid hundred dollar bill and handed it out. "I'll pay" he said, this time louder and more sure of himself. He wanted to do this for him, Gon had done so much for him already and he wanted to repay him. He blinked in surprise. "oh, alright then" and then he bit his lip. "if I pay you more can I get it faster?" Gon looked down at him with a confused expression. "we're in no hurry Killua" the guy sighed. "well I could get it out by tomorrow if I can-" Killua pulled out another hundred and dropped it on the counter. "do it" Gon put a hand on his head. "you don't have to-" Killua couldn't understand why he couldn't get it. I know I don't need to, but I want to. "I wanna go skating with you tomorrow"
he was quiet for a few seconds. "if that's what you want, I guess I can't argue" there was a shuffling noise and he glanced up to see that the man was holding his board out to him. "I can get it around noon tomorrow for you guys, this is yours" when Killua didn't reach out to take it, Gon grabbed his board and handed it to him. He stepped back from Gon and took it from him, holding it in front of his face again like last time. He didn't know why, but it made him feel less nervous. There's too many people in here, I can't keep track of them all at once. What if one of them tries to pull my hair or something? His hands clenched on the side of the board and Gon blinked over at him. "what's bothering you now?" he took a few steps closer, "t-too many people" he mumbled. The bang had been the door banging open, like nearly fifteen people had entered the store that was previously pretty empty. Gon sighed, then picked him up bridal style again. "h-huh?" he smiled down at him. "you can't run too well, so I'm gonna carry you out as quick as I can" he blinked. "ok" Gon waved over to the customs guy. "bye! We'll be back tomorrow!" and then he zipped out of the store just like he said he would. So much energy.
