It's a trap, was the first thought in Renjun's head when he saw how the dishwasher-girl was grinning at him like Cheshire cat. He had no intention to stay put to figure out what was going on, so Renjun got moving again to get away from the girl and the carnivores.
"Who is he?" the other girl asked with glee.
"I'm going with him", the dishwasher-girl said instead of answering the question.
No, you are not, Renjun wanted to yell as he walked away from the quartet. He had no interest in the drama of others.
The girl didn't stay to listen to other questions and soon Renjun could hear determined footsteps behind him.
"Hey, wait up!" the girl called out and then, once she reached him, she grabbed his arm without any hesitation.
Renjun stopped moving and turned slowly to stare at her hand on his arm. Her fingers were curled against the black material of his jacket, and she didn't move at all despite his sharp stare. Renjun shook his arm and she finally let go.
"What?" he barked and lifted his gaze, piercing her with his eyes.
The girl was peeking over her shoulder, not minding his glare. His angry tone didn't seem to faze her either and that was humiliating. Before losing the connection to his shapeshifter side, even normal people tended to be scared of his aura, despite not knowing the reason behind their fear. "Let me use you just for a moment, please", she whispered, still not facing him.
Renjun didn't have time or patience for her behaviour, and continued his walk away from her. He still needed to get into the position to keep an eye on the thug to make sure that he wouldn't get away. It was the first lead Renjun had received in weeks, and he wasn't going to let this weird dishwasher-girl get on his way.
"Hey!" the girl sounded genuinely confused when she noticed that Renjun was walking away from her again. "Does it bother you that much if I walk with you just for a minute?" she asked after running after him again.
Somehow the idea seemed to surprise her, as if it was normal for strangers to stroll around together.
Renjun took a look at her and noticed that she was staring at him, waiting for a reply. He started walking faster, hoping that the girl would just leave him alone.
"You know", the girl clearly wasn't taking a hint, despite having to almost jog to keep up with Renjun's steps. "It's nothing criminal or dangerous, so you don't need to worry that I dragged you into something of that sort. They are just some people from my university and it was starting to get awkward so I wanted to get away. And then you appeared out of nowhere so I was like 'this must be a sign' so I decided that you might be willing to help me out of it."
Renjun stared straight ahead, focusing on the dark alley in front of him. He needed to get rid of the babbling girl before he'd get back to the main street because he didn't want anyone to distract him or draw his target's attention to him.
The girl chuckled. "But I suppose it was a bit rude of me to use you like that when we don't know each other, right?" She waited for a second to let him answer but didn't receive anything. "So, my name is Chaewon. Song Chaewon, to be exact. It's nice to meet you!"
Despite the increasingly fast pace of their walk, she managed to place her hand in front of his chest, apparently waiting to shake hands with him.
"Whatever", Renjun mumbled and pushed her hand away from him.
Chaewon's breathing was starting to grow louder. She must have been very out of shape because they were barely power-walking.
"You're Jun, right?" she guessed between exhales. "Or Reungjeon or something like that?"
