"And then the teacher said that even though I made some mistakes, the melody was done well and there were many good ideas. I promised to redo the assignment to fix the stuff he pointed out even though he said that I don't have to. But you know what?" Chaewon looked up from the Rubik's cube she was trying to solve while her head rested on Renjun's lap and her feet were propped against the armrest of the couch. Other than her story, the apartment was quiet because Jeno had somehow managed to entice everyone else to go play tennis with him and Yujin.

"What?" Renjun asked without taking his eyes off the sketch he was working on his tablet. He had two days until he was supposed to have a concept meeting with a client, who had reached out to him after he had finished his first freelancer job, and he still needed one more design idea in order to present the client with a broad enough selection.

In reality he did already know 'what'. Chaewon had called him the second she was done with the music production academy the other day after receiving good feedback on her assignment, and he had stepped out of the subway two stops too early in order to listen to her lengthy explanation since he didn't want to disturb the other passengers during the rush hour.

"I like the song idea so much that I'm gonna pitch it to TY Track sunbaenim when I finally start my internship with him." Her hair that was splayed over Renjun's lap moved from side to side as she bobbed her head with excitement, making it hard for him to keep his hands steady. "I have a good feeling about it."

Taeyong had been impressed by her capabilities and enthusiasm but due to her having dropped out of university before finishing her minor in music, he had suggested for her to attend academy for a bit before starting to work for him. Chaewon had been so over the moon for even being able to meet him - let alone receiving an internship offer - that Renjun was pretty sure she hadn't slept a wink for a week.

"Do you think that he would like it?" Chaewon asked, nudging Renjun's stomach. "You know him pretty well so maybe you know what kind of stuff he likes."

Renjun was still focusing on his design. "I'm sure that he will like it." He had heard the song multiple times while Chaewon was working on it and it did sound promising. While she had been talented to begin with, solely focusing on writing music for the past month with a professional teacher had improved her skills a lot. "You worked hard on it."

Beaming, Chaewon reached to take a hold of his hand even though he was busy drawing, pulled it towards herself and kissed the back of his hand.

"I'm busy", Renjun complained, fighting back a smile that was trying to spread on his face. "I need to finish this draft."

Chaewon gave his hand another smooch before letting go and getting back to the Rubik's cube. She had been working on it for hours and was still unable to solve any of it.

After some time, she hummed and when Renjun peeked at her out of the corner of his eye, he saw that she was looking at her phone.

"Your mom asked me what color my hanbok is so that she can make sure that we will match." Chaewon grinned. "She doesn't have a lot of faith in your motivation to coordinate our outfits."

Renjun groaned.

In less than a week, his parents would throw their annual, ridiculously massive Seollal party to celebrate the lunar new year. Usually, Renjun barely made an appearance in the event but this time he had promised to attend the party in full.
Why? Because, upon hearing about it during a dinner at the Huangs', Chaewon had been so excited about the party that she hadn't given Renjun a chance to say that he didn't want to attend. And, while he hadn't been too surprised by the turn of events - after all, Chaewon was prone to getting excited about almost anything -, the same couldn't be said about his family.
