MADU AND SHEILA

Looking at Sheila while sitting at the edge of the bed

'Honey, where would you like to give birth to our child?' asked Madu.

'Of course, a hospital' Sheila said as she was surprised by the question

'No dear (smiling) I know that... I meant a place' Madu explained

Sheila who was arranging the clothes on the bed then stopped to reply to her husband with a long thought.

'What is there to think about, not as if my wish can be granted just like that dear' Sheila said as she looked at her husband

        'My dear just say it' Madu said as he smiled at her.

'Okay, dear (sitting down carefully)...Greece. I would like to give birth in Greece, you know have always liked the place since I was young' said Sheila.

     'Greece it is my dear that is where you will give birth to our daughter, and we should name her Simoni... that is a nice name..' Madu said.

Sheila dropped the cloth in her hand and laughed then she asked;

' When did you start comedy, my love?'

Madu walked towards Sheila and hold her hands

'love I have been waiting for the perfect time to let you know...(feeling excited)...Sheila, I got a golden opportunity for us today. I met a good Samaritan who is into estate business, the man is willing to assist me in getting into the business' Madu said as he looked at his wife

'Wait.. (standing up with a confused look).. that is good news my dear..but how. I mean how is where I'm giving birth-related?' Sheila asked

'Okay here is the thing, the man wants to open his business abroad, I just gave him a project preposition I was declined at where I initially went to...he was a partner there but wanted to start his own' Madu explained to his wife who was still surprised at the news

'Okay..you still have not answered my question' Sheila said to Madu as she sat on the bed back.

'He wants me to choose a country of my choice to execute my project, I will only be a partner of his for some years and split later...(he noticed an overwhelmed Sheila and smiled at her)... You won't have to sell beans cake anymore, we are going to give our child the best of life she deserves' said Madu as he hugged his wife.

Madu has been unemployed for three years, he strived to sustain his family while living in a self-contained apartment. Sheila has been an amazing wife too, she assisted with her little profit from Akara (beans cake) which she sells every morning to people, most of her customers are children because they love coming to her not just for her hot delicious  Akara but for her cheerful attitude and pretty mind.

Four months later the couple settled in Greece and they were beginning to stand on their feet back financially. Things were going smoothly for them until the devil decided to visit them in a woman's appearance.

On a sunny afternoon, Sheila was driving around the estate where they live in Athens, Greece, then she hit the brake to see a familiar face. She was trying to recollect the face but she regained her memory of the woman in a jiffy.

'Melon B!! Melon B!!!' she yelled at the woman passing across the street.

The woman looked across and wondered who could have called her by that because only her closest of friends could do that. Sheila locked the car and walked across the woman who was also coming towards her.

'Oooh my !!! oh my... Sheila!' The woman shouted, she hugged Sheila and was careful about her huge pregnancy.

The women laughed and smiled at each other. They both looked so happy to see each other, Melon B entered the car with Sheila and they left. After their meeting, they became much closer and visited each other. Melon B was a housewife divorcee with no child, she left her ex-husband who likes to gamble and beats her.

Sheila introduced her to her husband, and he offered to assist her to get a job to sustain herself. After nine months, Sheila gave birth to Simoni. She was loved by her family, and their family grew much better.

A year passed after Simoni's birth and the crisis started. Madu doesn't have time for his family unlike before. He likes going on long business trips and comes home late.  On one starry night, Sheila asked Madu to reduce his trips but to her surprise, he yelled at her for the first time and also told her she is too demanding. This gone for weeks, months and one day on Simoni's fourth year birthday he packed out of the house leaving Sheila and Simoni to carter for themselves.

Few weeks after he left, Sheila found out that Melon B left with her husband. Sheila felt betrayed and was angry that her supposed best friend, Roka who she calls Melon B, took her husband away from her and their daughter. He sold their company in Greece without his wife's consent and moved back to Nigeria to start his estate business.
