Kajri closed the door of her small room in the servant quarters and sank down on the bed. Her day had been enlightening. She was thankful to the younger prince for saving her from this situation, but in her heart, she knew this won’t be possible every day. Today, Rani Saheba had saved her. But her supervisor was going to be there and so was she. After this failure, he was going to make her life a living hell. He might put her in more difficult situations, more unsavoury positions. She needed to do something about this and quick.

She thought back to the time she had gone to Delhi at the request of her paramour. She had taken leave in the name of visiting a few holy places and knowing her nature and disposition, no one had questioned her leave. That she had travelled from one village to another to throw her followers off her scent was a different thing. When finally Chhote Hukum’s men had picked her up 40 kilometres away from Madhavgarh and had taken her to Delhi, no one had been wiser.

She remembered her time spent in Delhi fondly. Devraj had a small farmhouse on the outskirts of the city. Nestled in the lap of nature, the house was huge for Kajri, though over the course of her stay she had understood that it was a luxury to have one in Delhi. She knew Devraj could have afforded a bigger one, but when she had hesitatingly asked him about it he had just smiled and replied that this was a gift meant for someone who did not like bigger houses and was in love with nature.

She had smiled at this and hadn’t asked further.

Devraj had given her an open invitation to come and settle down in Delhi but she had declined by telling him that she needed to finish her 12th in Rajasthan. Now that she was done, there was no further reason to stay back.

Thankfully, no one suspected her relationship with the younger prince other than princess Akanksha. It was better to leave now with her dignity and secret intact rather than waiting for everyone to know the truth. She wouldn’t be able to face these people then.

Her mind made up, she decided to talk to Devraj in the morning.

Back there in the national capital, a young man was pacing in the living room of his penthouse like a caged tiger. He had gone out with his friends for some fun, but his mind was in Madhavgarh. Devraj was not someone who was given to emotions. Lust formed a major component in his day to day life and he never tried to suppress it. He shared this trait with his father. But he could clearly say that he was not like his father. He was not a mad chaser of flesh. He had his choices. And to think that his choice, Kajri, was threatened in his absence in Madhavgarh was something he could not digest.
