🌊🏄🏻♀️🗺━ comfortable silence𝓐FTER what seemed hours of arguing, disagreements and tears, Stella accepted the idea of help into her mindset; even if it wasn't the same type her parents had in mind. In her heart, Stella knew the person she wanted most in that moment would completely discard her ignorance and hatred towards him. But maybe she needed that, even if it was for an hour or so.
"Stella," He whispered as he stared at her desolate figure on the sand, her knees pulled up to her chest as she stared blankly into the sea. He turned the engine off to his jeep and got out immediately, making his way towards her.
"I didn't think you'd come," She muttered, turning her head to the left as he met with the right side of her. She pulled her hand from around her knee and wiped her face.
The blonde boy furrowed his brows in worry, a warmth in his heart that out of everyone she knew; she desired his company. "I didn't think you'd ever want to speak to me ever again but here you are,"
Stella frowned slightly before turning to him, her hazel eyes meeting with his ocean blue ones when suddenly they glossed over. As she stared at him she could see the loss of life, a pain entering her body full of guilt.
Every night he used to message her, begging to meet and talk or just speak over the phone to hear her voice. Until two months ago he'd stopped, his last text being: There's still so many things I would like to say to you but I don't know how. I'll always be waiting for you in front of the ocean at twelve every night. Forever.
"You still wait?" She smiled halfly.
"Well you know my love is still yours if you're willing to take it," He admitted truthfully, not bothering to conceal his feelings ever since he confessed years ago. He began to sit down beside her as she crossed her legs over the other.
Stella sighed before revealing: "You know you will never be unloved by me..." She shook her head as his eyes widened, even if it was for a second, "You are too well tangled in my soul," She pulled her hand from her side and stroked his cheek.
"Then why cant we be together?"
The girl smiled and looked away, "Because we do better apart... we'll survive, you and I. Maybe if we meet near death and do it together, but we'll survive," She said.
He furrowed his brows in confusion, "Is this because of what I did - because I'm different now, Stella. I promise and I promise you can count on me now," He said frantically, placing his hands on both sides of her head as she sighed.
"No - " She began.
"Don't say no just to shut me up Stell like you used to -" He began, ("No - no - no -") Stella spoke over him and shook her head, pulling his arms down, "Only say no if you really don't love me like I love you," He finished.
"No." Stella declared clearly, watching as he froze and sat straight, "No, Rafe. No." She pulled back, "I wanted to come to you for comfort - I didn't want to speak about my anxiety disorder or obsessive compulsive behaviour to anyone but you! And you ruined it - you've always ruined it this way," She cried.
The girl rose to her feet, "Stella I promise I'll listen." He began.
"No you wont, Rafe. Because you're selfish and -" She wiped her face, "And mean and - and you're dead to me." She swore, pointing to him, slowly backing up.
"What?"
"You're dead to me." She promised and finished, turning and walking towards her house as she aggressively wiped her face and ignored his yelling.
As the girl walked away she began to realise her sudden change in attitude, an apologetic mindset clouding her mind as she slowly turned around to see Rafe leaving.
Stella sighed, her eyes searching across the sea when suddenly she saw a figure in the distance. The familiarity of the board caused her to come to a pause as she furrowed her brows and narrowed her eyes for a better look. "JJ...?" She whispered under her breathe, making her way closer to the sea.
Despite the lack of sunlight, there were still waves, enough to entertain the boy at least. All so suddenly, the boy came to a pause in the sea, lying back down against his boards and staring up against the dark sky.
The girl sighed, hovering her eyes back to Rafe who had now gone before pulling off her shirt and taking off her shirts, making her way into the sea as she began to swim towards him; ignoring the coldness.
"Lonely?" She called out when she was quite close, smiling as JJ sat up immediately and narrowed his eyes to her. "It's a little late to be out, don't you think?"
JJ shook his head with a smile, "Why is Stella Carter swimming towards me in the middle of the night?"
"Because Stella Carter got into a bus stup with her parents," She admitted, finally meeting the side of his board and leaning on the side as he furrowed his brows.
"About not cleaning the dishes?" He teased.
Stella snorted, "No." She paused before responding: "About how I need help," She shrugged.
JJ furroweed his brows, "I'm confused,"
The brunette girl creased her lips into a thin line, "My mum wants me to move to Europe with her for the rest of the Summer," She whispered as he shook his head, "When I was eight we found out that I had compulsive obsessive disorders alongside signs of anxiety disorder... so, we seeked help and by twelve I was better - all until now."
JJ grew silent, "Don't pity me, I know I'm sick." She muttered.
All the boy could do was lower himself into the water gently against her, slowly pulling his arms around her and tugging her in as Stella silently cried into his shoulder. It was a comfortable silence, one underrated.
