"I mean it, Carter. Your tardiness is unacceptable,"
The sun had now gone and the girl had pulled a dress over her frame for some warmth, she'd not spoken to any of her friends since they left John B's and would be lying if she said she wasn't curious as to what they'd been up to.
"You got it D'Terra," She pulled back on a laugh, bringing her pointing finger and middle finger up against her head and waving it off towards him as he mirrored her gesture, sailing one another off.
The brunette girl watched simultaneously whilst the smile on his lips never left, a chin slowly resting on her shoulder as Stella whipped her head to the side.
"Jesus - you scared me," Stella sighed.
Angelina, Stella's mother, smiled and used her eyes to motion towards the blond boy waiting on the other end of the pavement, "JJ's waiting for you... he came when Sam was here and I told him to wait. Says it's a tip off?" Angelina smiled.
The teenager's thin brows knitted together as she looked over to her best friend, a confused and somewhat hurt expression upon his face, "A tip-off?," She shook her head at herself in confusion, their phrase only in use when it is an important event.
Stella took her shoes from the cabinet beside the door and pulled them up her feet, leaving through the door as her mother watched in disbelief.
"Where are you going?" Angelina asked.
Stella was hesitant, a hint of annoyance still too strong to speak sweetly to her mother. She still felt betrayed. Hurt. Angry.
"Where ever he wants to go."
Angelina held down on her tongue, deciding not to argue with her daughter in the fear it would affect the relationship to come of them in the future. And so, she watched as Stella began to walk away with her best friend.
"Hey," She smiled at him as his eyes remained where Sam just was, "What's up? Did you find something good?" Stella continued.
JJ finally looked down to her and nodded, "We found John B's fathers compass,"
Stella grinned, "What - that's so great for him," She let loose of an amused smile, looking up to his bland expression, "So what's wrong?" She continued.
The blond raised a brow, "Wrong? Nothing's wrong."
The girl tilted her head to the side, "Just spit it out," She shook her head.
"There's nothing to spit out, Stella. I just told you nothing's wrong,"
The girl's lips parted as she stopped their walk, "Alright then, if you say so,"
"Well, that's it. All I needed to tell you anyway so I'm just gonna head off now," JJ spoke the second she'd finished her last word, walking backward as he motioned behind him.
"That's it?" She furrowed her brows.
"Yep. Goodnight Stell, see you tomorrow," JJ clapped his hands together, clearly eager to leave as she stood and stared in complete and utter disbelief.
Before she could even respond the boy had already turned back around and picked up his pace, making his way back to his bike before leaving her eyesight completely whilst she stood in confusion.
