The sun shone down on a lush roof, moss had overgrown the rounded rooftops and ivy climbed the walls made of smooth stone and brick, some sunlight streamed into the house through rounded windows and doors. Inside were scattered bottles, some empty or full, dried herbs hung in the rounded archways in the house and on the walls.
The house was three stories; the top floor had a black cauldron with rubies inlayed into the metal. Shelves were lined with potions and crystals, more herbs hung on the walls, scattered on tables, some still in the process of being ground down. The second floor had only one room with a bathroom attached and a small area for a cat, the whole house aside from the doors which lead outside had nothing but rounded archways.
In the backyard stood a hut that overall looked the same as the main house, there were sleeping quarters and a bathroom as well. Gadgets were strewn about on every surface. Oil streaks were very obvious on washrags and clothes. There was a furnace in the corner.
"Oi!" A sharp cry could be heard in the garden, a short person could be seen jumping and laughing while they held something. The taller person was chasing them trying to grab whatever the first person had in their hand. "Hey! Mimi! I need that for my garden!" Constance shouted while gracefully chasing her smaller cousin.
"No way! I wanna tinker with it!" Mimi shouted, now heading for her workshop. Constance's gold eyes narrowed; she knew if Mimi took her tools into the workshop she wouldn't see them again for weeks and when she finally would catch a glimpse of them they would never be the same.
"Mimiii!!" She dragged out "No! I really like these tools! I traded and saved a lot to get them!"
Constance almost whined at her cousin. Normally she would never be caught whining and begging like a dog but this was someone who she grew up with and trusted she didn't need to guard as much around her cousin. Sighing as the chase finally ended with Mimi locking herself in her workshop Constance turned around and headed back into the main house.
"Oooh some one's in a bad mood." Constance sighed as she looked over to her familiar. Pierre, a Long Haired brown cat had been given to her by her mother when she died at childbirth. His promise was to protect Constance and though he could be sassy, stuck up, and pretentious Constance was aware that he cared dearly for her.
"Pierre drop it, it's not important. Mimi just got to my tools again." Constance pouted while she went up to her potions room.
She continued a potion she overheard someone talk about. The idea was to be able to have the ability to breathe underwater. She didn't hear all the ingredients or the measurements so it was all being played by trial and error. Constance felt grateful they had a pool in the backyard that she could practice in. Some of the herbs she couldn't grow, for they were picky about what they liked and tended to be fickle about anything that wasn't the shore of a lake. She groaned as she realized she was running low on a particular herb which meant another lake visit. She had already been there two days ago and thought she had picked enough.
Sighing she made her way to the back door where her robe and satchel sat on hangers. Pulling on her black and gold robe she also took down a black veil, draping it over her head. Her dull, gold eyes gazed at the horizon. Dyed white hair cascaded down her back, the tips were ombrayed out into a dark red. She went out, keeping an eye on the sky for the time, the sun was high meaning she would get back by the time it set.
"Pierre!" She called out to her familiar.
"Darling." He called out to her from the top of the stairs. She pulled out her necklace and Pierre disappeared. She tucked it back into her robe and headed out the door.
