"Lunch is almost ready!" "Okay!"

It was 12:10 pm, the sky was clear, birds were chirping and the aroma of gardenias swept across the neighborhood.

"Choon Hee time to come in now!", Jay yelled from the back door.

"Coming, I'm coming.", she cried, giggling as she ran towards her brother. Taking off her shoes one by one, Choon Hee climbed onto her chair next to her mother.

"You know Jongseong, your sister's birthday is coming up, do you have any plans for her?", their mother asked placing an omelet on Choon Hee's plate.

"No. Shes only turning 5, that's all."

Jay was 8 years old, still a boy learning about the little things in life. He cared much for his younger sister, in a sense you could say he was quite proud of the way he cherishes her.

"Choon Hee, how would you like to celebrate?" The little girl finished swallowing her food and looked up to her brother.

"I want to play outside."

After they finished their meals they went out to play. The two sat on the grass, picking out the little strands of grass found beneath them.

"Hee-ah, what would you like for your birthday?" The girl looked at her surroundings and pondered the question.

"A kitten. I would like a kitten." This came as a surprise to the boy. Never has she brought up such a suggestion, let alone a living animal.

"I don't know how to tell you this, but I'm allergic to cats." The girl didn't show any sign of disappointment, rather, she was distracted by the dandelions poking out of the grass not far from her.

Jay's POV:

Ah, nothing to worry about, she's far too young to know what she wants or needs, I thought to myself.

I looked up to the sky to see no clouds. Just a light blue, somewhat periwinkle, sky.

How unfortunate it would be to not be able to see such colors around you, everyday, every night.

We stayed outside for about an hour longer, making leaf bracelets and grass rings. Tying each strand together, making knots to secure them around our wrists.

Soon enough our mom called us back inside to wash up. I've been quite a good boy lately, as I've been helping mom with chores and taking care of Choon Hee. Our dad has been busy with work lately so he hasn't been able to stick around much.

"Jongseong, Choon Hee,  please come help with the laundry."

As I fold my clothes, Choon Hee just sat there moving around her clothes, putting them all into one pile. What was there to expect, the girl is 4 and soon enough she will have to learn the basics.

"Jongseong-ah, do you have everything set up?"

It was the 2nd of May, Choon Hee's birthday. The decorations didn't go out of hand, just a few pink balloons and ribbons. It almost looked like a girls baby shower.

The sun was shining bright today, with a few clouds in the sky.

"Jay!" Choon Hee came out of her room in a little blue plaid dress. Mom came behind her and gestured for me to get dressed as well.

I seldom complain when it comes to getting dressed, I've always liked the idea of getting to choose what I wear each day.

I wore a blueish dress shirt and black khaki shorts.

"Why don't you both wait outside for now? I still need to plate a few of these dishes."

As we went outside, not long after, I started to sweat a bit. The sun was quite bright today and the clouds were too small to shade us.

Choon Hee carried her little bear in her arms as she sat on a bench.

"Jay, what are you doing? Bring your bear out to play!", She said as she squinted her eyes, smiling.

"Ok, let me find it. Just wait out here"
