"Hee-ah! It's 10:00, wake up!" Jay yelled from outside my room. I got ready and walked to the kitchen.
It was Saturday which meant Jay would be home all day and we could rest.
"Jake and Sunghoon will be over today, do you want to stick around or go to Jungwon's? Up to you." I was excited to hear his name. "Can you ask him if he's free?"
Jay sent a text and continued to make breakfast.
I then heard a notification from his phone.
I would like to but my parents are home from work this weekend. Maybe Monday?
"Ah, he can't this weekend, parents are over. Why don't you hang around? They probably won't mind."
"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you, Jungwon and I bumped into them the other night walking home."
"Oh, then that should make it less awkward."
We then ate our meals and let time pass.
Knock Knock
"Hey, how are you guys?" "Good." I continued to sit by the kitchen counter, tapping my fingers on the marble surface.
"Choon Hee, nice to see you again!" I looked back to Jake's voice and waved.
"Hi Jake, Sunghoon." I realized I've still never heard Sunghoon's voice before. He remained silent.
I heard them walk over to the small living room that we had.
"So how's your ice skating going?" "Tiring, but manageable." Sunghoon. His voice is kind of monotone, but relaxed.
"I have a competition next week, but I'm not too worried about it."
"Lies, there's a guy he's competing against that's pretty good." Jake continued, "But we have faith in Sunghoon right." they chuckled. "He has a lot of fan girls to cheer him on anyways, far more than the other dude."
Sunghoon let out a sigh. He sounded irritated but I couldn't tell.
"No, Sunghoon would definitely win. Not because of his fan girls but because he's the best." Jay said trying to cheer him up.
"Yeah yeah, but he would kill to have your looks Hoon. Girls go crazy for his visuals." Jake added.
"Ok enough of that. As much as I'm grateful for my fans, but I'm afraid half of it is for my looks. That has little to no significance to my skating."
It was kind of awkward for me to sit and listen so I decided to speak up, "That is true, but I bet you're so skilled, that even if you didn't have your looks, you'd still win." I smiled a bit trying to cheer him up.
"Thank you guys." They started to chat a bit more but I just listened in.
Author's POV:
"Jay you said you had a bag collection yeah?" Jake asked him. "Yeah, a small one but it's alright. Wanna see?" They started to walk over to Jay's room when Sunghoon's phone began to ring.
"I need to take this but you guys go ahead."
"Have you been practicing lately?"
"Yes, just taking a break for now. With some friends currently."
"You have competition next week. Don't lose focus."
"Yes, coach."
Sunghoon hung up and sighed on the couch.
"What was that about?" Choon Hee asked from the counter.
"Ah, nothing. Just word from coach that I have to practice for next week."
"Are you happy? You know, with skating." Sunghoon looked up at her and blinked a few times. "Sort of. Lately I've been loosing motivation though." He scratched his head and looked around.
He wondered why he was sharing his thoughts to his friend's sister.
"What motivation? You have a fan base, you have your coach, and you have your friends." Choon Hee was confused on what he could possibly be missing.
"Yeah, I'm not sure either."
"Choon Hee you didn't steal my friend now did you?" Jay and Jake came out of his room.
"He's worried about skating and everything."
"No I'm not. Like I said it's not that big of a deal." He quickly said.
"Ok ok, Jake and I were talking, I don't know, cafe tomorrow night 17-19:00? You free?"
"I can't but you guys can. I have to head to the rink to practice."
"Jay can I join you guys at the cafe? I don't really want to stay here alone." Choon Hee added.
"Well Jake and I will be studying so I'm not sure what you'd do." Jay thought for a second.
"Ah, Sunghoon, will there be a lot of people at the rink when you go?" Choon Hee raised her eyebrows at his question.
"No, open skate is only on the weekdays so I go on my own during the weekends."
"Do you mind bringing Choon Hee with you? I don't know maybe she can pick up a skill or two."
"I think you're forgetting something." Choon Hee commented, "It's impossible to skate without being able to see."
"Not true, I've seen people ice skate blind folded." Sunghoon said with his arms crossed. "Sure, I can take her."
Choon Hee couldn't believe her ears. She would have rather sat in silence at the cafe with her brother. Or much rather be with Jungwon.
