Wednesday came quick for everyone, as it was the day of Sunghoon's competition.
"Are you coming?" Choon Hee asked her brother, who was browsing on his laptop. "Yeah I plan on going, why?" "Nothing just wondering."
Someone suddenly knocked on the door. It was 12:30, would could it have been?
"Sunghoon? What are you doing here?" Jay asked. "Oh, I decided to stop by before practice, I was wondering if you guys wanted to come early while things are getting prepared." Sunghoon slightly scanned the room wondering where his friends sister was. "Thanks for the invite but I still have a few things I have to do, but I'll definitely be there in time to watch you."
Sunghoon hesitated a bit to ask again, "Is Choon Hee busy?" "Nope! Jay could I go?" Choon stepped out of her room. Sunghoon was quite happy to see her speak up. "I don't see anything wrong with it, but please keep an eye on her, Sunghoon. Be careful."
The two then walked out of the apartment and drove off.
"Are you nervous?" "Not as much as before. Thank you for coming to watch me." The girl laughed a bit, "You didn't give me a choice." Sunghoon grinned and looked in the rear- view mirror to see her.
They finally arrived to the rink, few people were there yet. It only consisted of the competitors, their families and staff. The sound systems were being tested and the ice resurfacer was smoothing out the rink.
Choon Hee could see the different shades of light as she looked up. "What time is your performance?" "Around 14:45-15:00" She was wondering when Jungwon would show up. "The audience, meaning your brother and your friend, will be here around 13:30, that's when they start announcing everything."
They walked towards the far right of the bleachers where the skaters' families were. "You guys will sit here, so you don't have to worry about all the fans running around." Sunghoon said with a slight smile on his face.
Choon Hee sat down on the bleachers and Sunghoon sat next to her. "I know you'll do amazing." He looked at her from the side and looked at her or a bit. "Of course I will, I've been doing this for years." He said looking back at the rink. "If you doing this makes you happy, you'll perform better as well. I'll be cheering you on." Choon Hee said smiling.
Sunghoon looked down and thought to himself, she really cares for me.

"Jungwon? Why are you here?" Jay asked after opening the door to the boy. "Oh, I was here to pick Choon Hee up to go to the ice skating competition, unless you will be taking her?" The older nodded a bit, "I should've told you but she's already there, Sunghoon invited her to go earlier. I'm about to leave to go as well, wanna carpool?"
Sunghoon? Why'd he bring her earlier?, Jungwon thought. "No it's ok, my sister's downstairs waiting to take me but thank you."
Jungwon walked down the steps to the parking lot. As he did so, he kept thinking, are they that close? I'm thinking too hard aren't I-
"Is she coming?" Ji-yeon asked from the driver's seat. "She's already there, I'll just meet her when we arrive." The two then drove off to the rink. There was a lot of traffic due to such a big day.
———
"I have to see my coach now, you stay here alright?" Sunghoon told Choon Hee, patting her shoulder. "Ok! Good luck." She made a reassuring smile at the boy, who then smiled back.
Choon Hee waited on the bleachers, swinging her feet back and forth. She could hear a lot more people coming in the rink. Lots of talking, cheering, and bags of food being crinkled and such.
"Choon Hee!" She quickly looked up at her friend's voice. "Yang Jungwon! You're here!" She stood up having Jungwon place his hands around her arms. "Sit down, sit down." The two sat side by side after greeting one another.
"How are you?" The girl asked. "Doing well, and you?" "Tired," Choon Hee chuckled, "But I'm happy you're here with me." The boy blushed at these words and looked at the rink, "I don't even know how to skate, let alone have I ever watched people ice skate." The two laughed at his words. "I've only tried once, but I'm gonna try harder next time." "You ice skate?" She's never told him about this before. "Not really, but Sunghoon taught me a bit a few nights ago. He also asked me to practice with him during the weekends."
Again? All of a sudden?, Jungwon was a bit confused. "Since when did you guys get so close?" "I'm not sure close is the right word, I met him through Jay and Jay had Sunghoon watch me for a night because he was out studying. But he's really nice and fun to talk to, a bit stubborn, but he's a nice guy." Jungwon slightly bit his lip, "I bet I'm more fun to talk to though." Choon Hee turned to her right, "Very much, you're my first, close friend and appreciate you a lot."
This made Jungwon happy, "I think the same about you, I'll never leave you." Choon Hee was about to speak when announcements came on.
"Welcome everyone, to the 2021 Summer Figure Skating Competition!"
