26: another day

"You really didn't think it this through did you?" Nari said, causing Yeji to let a out a louder sigh. "So I've been told."

It's been a little more than a week since Yeji's been grounded and she's tried her best to reflect on herself.

"So, that's it? All this trouble for you to just go back to your old life?" Hana added, sitting across the room from the two. "And the winner of this game, Park Sunghoon, agai-" "Will you shut up?", Yeji cut her off. 

Nari stayed silent afterwards, not daring to say a word.

"You were saying?" Choon Hee nudged the boy, after he paused at his words. "Oh, sorry." Jungwon replied. "Is there something wrong?" She asked. 

"I'm just not sure if I should, uhm-" "Oh come on, you said you didn't finish the tale you shared, go on, finish it." Choon Hee lightly said.  "Ok, but don't make fun of me if I sound stupid." The girl smiled and nodded. 

"So after the man had come out of the hospital, he was in search of his wife. However, he could not find her. He asked around, crying to see where she could be. Then later that evening, as he sat in his house, a feline sat on his porch." Jungwon looked up at Choon hee again, and still, she sat listening. "The tale kind of ends there." 

She looked up in confusion, "Huh? Is that all?" "Well people say that the feline was his wife. Some say it's true some say it stays a tale, I don't know." Jungwon shrugged it off. 

"It's a sweet story though. She gave her life for him, allowing him to see as well." she continued, "And she technically was still with him in the end." Jungwon nodded, "Yep."

He knew there wasn't much left to his story, but he thought, why not spend more time with her while there. 

Jungwon looked around the apartment while the two were silent. Gardenias. Wilted, they sat on their counter. "You still kept those flowers? It's been so long." Choon Hee smiled, "Sorry, I tried to keep it alive. And of course, it was the first time we met." 

She turned away, embarrassed at her comment. Jungwon chuckled, "I can always bring another one over if you'd like." 

Jay suddenly came out of his room, startling the two. "And have me water that thing everyday? No thanks." He pursed his lips. "Did you, hear what we were talking about?" Choon Hee asked her brother. "Nah don't worry, I only heard every little thing you guys said." He joked. 

Jungwon played with his hands awkwardly, "Thanks for letting me come over, I should probably head back now."

"Did you ever plan on telling me?" Choon Hee lifted her head up to her brother. "Tell you what?" "Oh come on, it's pretty obvious." He laughed a bit. "You and Jungwon. You're really bad at hiding things anyways, I already know." She looked down in embarrassment. 

"I was probably going to tell you, but then" "Yeah, yeah I understand. Anyways, have you gotten a chance to call mom and dad lately?" She nodded, "Yeah I did yesterday morning, they're both doing well." 

"So how about you? Anything going on with friends... or maybe a girl?" Choon Hee laughed. He scoffed in response, "Ha, very funny. Honestly not right now. Too much going on." 

The two have always joked around like this since childhood, which led to a lighter setting in the house. They both enjoyed each other's company knowing someone could easily light up the mood. 

"Oh yeah, Jake said he aced his physics test the other day. I guess that's something along the lines of interesting." The older added. 

Choon Hee tried thinking of any news from friends, which only led to Sunghoon or Yeji. She thought about how they were, though the trouble Yeji had caused, she never found herself holding a grudge on her. She felt bad, rather. And Sunghoon, how is he doing? She missed him, the places they went. Choon Hee truly felt he was a good friend to her.
