Walking home, Jay received a text message from his parents. How is everything going? Jay decided to give him a call in return.
"Mom! How are you?" Jay asked. "We're doing well, how about you? Is Choon Hee with you?" "We are doing well, Choon Hee is with a couple of friends at the moment. I've been busy with school but it's manageable." "That's good, and Choon Hee is with friends? Do they have an adult with them?" "I've met them, everything is well, mom. Is dad still working?" As Jay was on the call he kicked a few rocks out of his way. "Yes, but lately he's been taking more breaks which is good." Her trailed off a bit then continued, "Is Choon Hee getting around ok?" Jay nodded a bit, "Everything is well, I'm keeping watch."
The call eventually ended and Jay was almost at the apartment complex when he saw Sunghoon. Sunghoon had just got off his car and was walking to the stairs, which led to their apartment room. "Sunghoon! Did you need something?" The boy looked back and walked towards Jay. "Oh, I didn't know you were out, I was just about to stop by to say hi." Jay nodded and gestured his hand for them to walk together to his apartment.
Sunghoon took a seat on the kitchen barstool while Jay was on the other side of the counter getting a drink for the two. "Oh yeah, Choon Hee is with your sister right now, with a couple of friends." Sunghoon coughed after taking a drink of his water. "What?" Jay looked up, "Yeah we bumped into each other earlier while taking a walk. Yeji invited her to hang with them so I let her go." Sunghoon blinked a bit and thought about it. "Is there something wrong?" Jay asked. "No, no I was just shocked."
"So what do you have going on now, you know, competition is over and all." Sunghoon sighed, "You know, I don't know either." He chuckled. "I'm just wondering, has Choon Hee always been, I don't know," His voice trailed off a bit. "Actually never mind, sorry." Jay raised his brow in confusion, "What do you mean?" Sunghoon was hesitant with his words, "I'm not sure how to put it, but innocent? No, like," He continued to stutter. Jay started to laugh, "Innocent? Why are you asking these things?" He placed his hands on the counter.
Sunghoon wasn't sure what to say either, or why he brought it up to begin with. Ever since he realized his liking for Choon Hee he didn't know how to act. "She had no clue who I was, and she's always so positive about everything, it's kind of creepy." Sunghoon tried to be nonchalant with it, not trying to sound weird. "Well, growing up she hasn't interacted with much people. When we were younger she usually came to me for a lot of things, sure we grew up with parents but since we're close in age it helped her." Jay sighed, "Ever since we got the news that she won't ever to be able to see, it's been hard for me to look at things the same. Like when I look at my surroundings, it's almost as if somethings holding me back from admiring those things because she won't see the same."
Little did Jay know his eyes were wet, causing Sunghoon to look down. "Sorry." Sunghoon said, trying to comfort his friend. I didn't realize Jay's love for his sister was so deep. He thought. His relationship with his sister wasn't at all close to theirs. Yeji had always turned a cold side to him and he didn't show much concern for it either.
"Anyway, it's getting late, haha." Jay said shrugging his shoulders. "I should probably call Choon Hee back." Sunghoon nodded, "Yeah, I should probably head back as well." As he walked to open the door someone knocked.
"Choon Hee?" Sunghoon started to smile a bit when he saw three girls behind her. "Oh, Sunghoon why are you here?" Yeji asked, in yet a cheerful tone. "I was talking with Jay."
Choon Hee walked in the room, "It was nice meeting you guys!" Sunghoon and the girls walked out of the apartment. "That was nice of them to walk you home." "Yeah, Yeji's pretty nice."

As Sunghoon walked out the apartment Yeji ran up to her brother, "Choon Hee really is so nice! You're so lucky to have her." Sunghoon stopped walking, "What?" "I said you're lucky to have her." She said with a smile. Sunghoon was confused by his sister's actions and words. "She's just my friend. And why are you acting like this all of a sudden." He was rather making a statement than asking her. "What do you mean? Can't I talk to my brother?" He cringed at her words and continued to walk home. Nari and Hana eventually ran up to him. "Sunghoon! How was your day?" Hana asked. He ignored them as he walked up the door step. "Guys, leave him alone." Yeji scolded them. They slowly walked back and said their goodbyes.
When Yeji closed the door behind her she went to the kitchen to bring back water for her brother. "Here." He took the glass as she ran back up the stairs. He tilted his head in confusion. "See, I told you. Your sister is learning to appreciate you. You should acknowledge that." His mother said walking out of her room. The boy nodded, "Yeah, yeah it's just weird because it came out of no where."
Maybe she really is getting better.
