Drew's POV:

The final bell rings of the day. Finally, the day was over. Today has been such a drag. I get up from my desk and walk out of the classroom where the boys were outside waiting for me and talking.
"Hey Drew!" Henry said to me. "We were gonna go to Liam's house to hang out, you down?"
"I guess." I reply.
"Jake, you down?" Liam asked, looking up at Jake. I hope he says yes, he never hangs out with us anymore.
"I.. Can't.. Sorry." Jake replied, looking down.
I don't feel surprised but I can't help but feel sad. "Why not?" I ask, in a low tone of voice.
"Hailey's showing me some equipment stuff and we have practice." Jake answered. Why am I not surprised?
"Of course." I say under my breath. "It's always them."
"Don't be like that, Drew.." Jake said.
Was he.. defending them? We really were losing Jake to those music dorks..
"Look, guys. I've gotta go.. I'll see you later." Jake said, waving goodbye as he walked back towards the school.
I cross my arms as Jake walks away, my face goes dark in anger mixed with sadness. Jake barely hangs out with us anymore, he's always ditching us at lunch to go with the music freaks, and to top it all off he's now busy after school just to see those freaks? Really? Ugh. I sometimes just wanna burn them.
Liam and Henry get silent for a while.
"So.. You still down to hanging out with us?" Liam finally says after like 2 minutes of silence.
I sigh and say under my breath. "Sure.."
Henry and Liam stand in front of me standing next to each other and I walk behind as we head towards Liam's house. They talk about.. whatever it is they talk about as I think about it.
I know it's dumb, but... I can't help but worry that Jake will abandon us one of these days. Like one day he'll be given the option to choose the music club or us and he'll choose the club.
It seems like that's what he'd do anyway.. Considering he's always busy with them nowadays. Do I even matter anymore?
I felt stressed at the thought of him leaving our group. I mean, he is my best friend. He wouldn't abandon me.. right?

Jake's POV:

As I head inside, I turn back to look at Drew. His arms are crossed, his face looks dark and he looks.. upset. I seemed to have really hurt him this time, huh? I really wish I could make it up to him somehow. But.. how?
I would get him a gift but a gift would be nothing compared to what his parents have gotten him in the past. I need something bigger.. Hmm.. Maybe Hailey would know.
I walk inside and head towards the music room. I open the door and see Hailey inside practicing her guitar. I approach her, she sees me and smiles.
"Hey Jake!" She said.
"Hey, Hailey." I say, not sounding as excited as usual.
She notices my unenthusiastic tone of voice and raises an eyebrow. "Is something wrong?"
"No- yes- maybe.. Well.. Kind of.." I stutter.
She looks confused at me. I sounded like a complete idiot.
"Sorry, I just um.. Need some advice."
She put her guitar down against the table where Sean's laptop usually is.
"Happy to help, what's up?" She asked.
"Well, I have this... friend that I barely make any time for. He seemed sad when I couldn't make any time to hang out with him. I wanna make it up to him by getting him something but his parents have gotten him everything he could ever ask for so just a small gift would be nothing," I explain. "So.. I need a idea of what I could give to him to make it up to him."
Hailey thought about it for a second. "Hmm.. I have a idea!"
My eyes lit up. I look up at Hailey.
"How about you take him out to lunch? Just you and him and wherever he wants to eat and you buy him whatever he wants to get and you pay for it all, the weekend is just a few days away anyhow." Hailey suggested.
"That's a great idea, Hailey!" I exclaim. "But.. I'm not that rich and paying for everything might be a huge stretch."
"Well you don't have to pay for everything for him, it's just a suggestion to be nice." She said.
I thought about it for a moment. I mean, sure Drew is loaded. But if he spends his whole allowance he might run out and his dad might not give him more. I might not have enough for everything he wants but Drew is responsible so he'll either insist he pays for it or he gets the cheapest thing on the menu just so I don't spend too much. Drew is predictable like that.
"I'll do it!" I exclaim.
"Perfect! Now we have to get started on equipment. Follow me." She said.
"Yes ma'am!" I say.

Liam's POV

As Henry and I talk, we aren't very far from my house, I glance at Drew every now and then.
I can't help but feel bad for him, he and Jake have been friends since kindergarten and now all of a sudden he gets a crush and now he's joining a club just to impress her to get her attention and now he has no time for him.
If Henry stopped having any time for me, I probably wouldn't know what to feel..
When we get to my house we stop walking and I say to Drew. "So are we going to talk about it?"
"Talk about what?" He said as he stopped walking.
"Talk about.. Jake?" I said.
I saw his face go from confused to angry. He looked down at the floor. "I don't wanna talk about it, alright?!"
"But Drew I-"
"I DON'T!" He stomped inside and slammed the front door behind him. Well.. My mom isn't going to be very happy.
Henry and I look at each other and shrug.
"Liam, I think he's mad. I just can't tell." Henry said.
I laughed. "You're so dumb."
