Chapter 18

Drew's POV

When those words escaped Henry's tongue, it created a thousand questions in my head, followed by confusion yet excitement.

"Wait what?!"

I saw Liam nudge his elbow on Henry's arm, then he muttered something. Henry quickly turned to me and nervously said, "W-well.. heh.. um.. you reacted so you clearly like him- haha!"

I didn't believe him, Liam looked nervous when he nudged Henry like that. Something had to have been going on.
I said with a bit of force, "Henry. Is what you said true??"

He hesitated to answer, then sighed, "Yes.."

I saw Liam face palm himself, what was his problem?

"Look, if you do like Jake, you have to tell him," He said, sounding rather serious. "But if you don't, just don't say anything, okay? He really likes you and I don't want to be the reason he's heartbroken."

I glared at the ground, trying to process what he was saying. But I nodded.
Did I like Jake? I mean, sometimes when he arrived to school and approached me it made me happy. And made me feel warm inside. And just now I was lost in my thoughts about him.
And I guess I was blushing.

I knew what my answer was, so I muttered it. "Maybe I do like him.." I said, beginning to glance up at them. "But this situation with Zoey has gotten me stressed and.. I am not ready to risk that feeling again."

"Trust me.." Liam said, removing his hand from his face. "Jake is a great guy, he won't ever do to you what Zoey did."

"Mhm.. besides, last night he was going off about how pretty you were and how he missed seeing you."
When he said that it made me face get warm again, I quickly looked away.

"It's quite obvious that he really likes you," said Liam. "I don't think he would ever do something like that."

I thought about it, they were right. Jake was very sweet, he always has been. But.. I thought the same about Zoey. And now.. we're over.

"I guess you're right.." I muttered, looking at the floor once more. "But.. I never will know if he wants me for my money or for-"

"Dude!" Henry laughed. "Are you kidding? The way he looks at you during class and on texts. How would that be for money?"

"Exactly! He loves you, man, just go tell him you want to go out."

"I- how would I-"
I felt my face get hotter.

"Approaching him and asking him out, he will be very happy." Henry said with a smile.

"Today?"

"Yes today!"

I gulped, anxiety overwhelming me.
I did not know how to do this. But then I had an idea.

I pulled out my phone from my hoodie pocket. Then texted Jake saying, Hey.. before class, can we talk? Or after class?

I hesitated to send the message, looking over it again and again 5 times. Before I swallowed and sent it.

I quickly shoved my phone in my pocket.
I was so scared for a response.

"What did you text him?"

"Telling him I'd like to talk,"

"Oooh!"

Soon after, he responded with an Okay and Is everything okay?

To that, I quickly responded yes and to just meet me.

I became a nervous wreck the rest of the school day.

I could barely focus on my work, it was hard to do anything without thinking about what I was going to say.
When school ended, I slowly packed my stuff and headed outside. Henry and Liam walked with me, wishing me good luck and making faces at me. All that stuff.

We had separated once we made it outside, I waited anxiously for Jake to walk up.
Once I saw Jake walking out from the school building, I slowly approached. Gulping back stress, if I could.

"Hey Jake.." I said nervously.

"Hey Drew," He said with a smile. "Whats up?"

"Um.." I tried to find the words. "Um.. i-" He looked confused at me, come on. Get yourself together. "I wanted to ask you something.."

"Mhm.."

"W-will you.. um..." I could barely say it, before voice cracking while saying. "Go out with me.."

Seeing his shocked expression and his face light up like that made me 100x more anxious, I quickly said, "I'm sorry this was a mistake-"

"No it's okay!" He said, "I'm just speechless. I never expected this.. but yes!! I will!"

My face had gone in shock.
Even though Henry told me he liked me back, I was not expecting this.

I can't believe this, he's my- boyfriend-
